Thread: Hospitals are a big waste of space and programming code.

I have a character that has a lot of wounds. Whenever I visit a medical center no one is ever there. Even when I visit the largest cities there are no medics or doctors in the hospitals. I was forced to take up the medic profession but because that character is solo i've gotten no medical experience, so I can't heal myself effectively (/tendwound would take forever). There's hardly anyone else in the hospitals either so getting experience would take a verylong time. No matter what time of dayI playI neverfind anyonewith woundtreatmentskills in a placewherethey can be used. Being solo stops me from healing in camps either.

So I'm stuckwith no way to heal my wounds because the devs wanted to increase player interactively by instituting a sedintary class nobody wants to play.

What the heck are you talking about? Every time I've gone to Coronet or Bestine(two of the busiest cities in-game on any server) there are ALWAYS Medics/Docs in there or just around the way at the Cantina.

Maybe you should look a bit harder...

Hey, BionicEwok,

You know what? I HAVE SEEN THE SAME THING!!! I play usually early in the day or late at night. I like Mos Eisely and Coronet. And I go out to Dathomir occassionally. And what I see very often is that it seems like I am the only Medic in town. I have even once had to go OFF WORLD to get trained by another player! I think we need new healing abilities in Med Centers as Medics, and Doctors need to have their healing skills increased as well as new abilities there as well. That is honestly the only way that I can see Med Centers being truly useful. As it is, whenever I go into Mos Eisely after hunting or doing missions, I go to the Cantina, see if anyone needs my help, and then lead them to the Med Center. Most people I know don't even check the Med Center for me....they go to the Cantina!!!

Yep, Med Centers need fixing!

Peace,

Morella

People chack for medics in the Cantina, because that is usually where they are when healing in the med center is slow (healing entertainers).

The cantina is way more social then sitting in the med center by yourself.

I dunno what to do to make the med center more appealing...Honestly, I'd rather not be in them at all. SO I don't like the idea of "med center only actions."

Many of the people I know ingame have a "on call" medic or doctor friend. Who comes and heals them (in camp, house, medcenter or w/ droid) for a reasonable price. Usually there is a bakup or 2, for when the primary healer is busy.

Yeah, I used to hang ou at the Cantina when times were slow at the Med Center as well. But, I really never go tot he Med Center anymore anyways (and we've been saying this would happen since Beta.) It's too easy to lose money healing in a Med Center and too easy to just be treated poorly there. The profession tends to attract the more altruistic and sympathetic players (those who like to HELP other people) and the anonimous and impersonal nature of online computer gaming tends to make those kinds of folks far too easy to prey on. They don't like getting preyed on so the make a select group of friends and only deal with them, leaving the med centers empty to the rude and those who don't tip (and told the Medic to go make money on missions to begin with, thereby encouraging that medic to not be in the med center to heal them later anyways. Go figure.)

Unfortunately I don't really have the answers either. The answers we did had probably should all have been implimented in Beta to set the standard of allowing some form of payment for healing right from the start (I do think free healing should be allowed, though.) Now the mindset is already set and medics get abused, so they don't want to hang out at the med centers as much except in certain fairly busy places where at least they have some chance of making something off of the much large number of folks that go through there. (Or at least they can get some XP if that's what they want.)

I bet some ideas for helping to alleviate the situation would be pretty welcome by our illustrious Medic Correspondent, however.

Sit on a bed in the medical center. It heals your wounds. Slowly, but it does.

It has nothing to do with the bed. It is the building.

Med Centers and Camps heal wounds over time.

Reasons to keep Medics and Docs in a MedCenter/Hospital? Provide an xp boost, provide a healing boost, provide some form of credit gain or payment for services rendered...provide some form of electrical shock that a medic can apply to the rude idiots that will undoubtedly show up at the medcenter

"What? No Thank you?!" *zaps the idiot patient*

"10 creds? what the heck?" *zaps the idiot patient*

"What do you mean that was 'your' patient? Bah!" *zaps other healer*

That explains why Zarlor was standing around all day yesterday rubbing a baloon on his head with 1 hand and a pointing at people...

Maybe if he scuffs his feet on the carpet he'll open his FS slot!

OK I haven't checked all the biggest cities but I'm currently in Tyrena which isn't exactly a hole in the ground.

Regarding the times I play I must admit I usually play rather late due to my schedule but playing during miday on weekends has still yielded [much] less than favorable results.

Well I guess I'll go to Coronet to master a new proffesion: "Cantina Rat" yaaah!

What server are you on?

On Chilastra, Tyrenna is a hotbed of serious Rebel activity...

I have my hosue between Kor Vella and Tyrenna, and spend a lot of time there on and off doing rebel meissions.

Kor Vella is pretty empty, but Tyrenna is usually hopping. Coronet is crawling with people, and isn't completely empty at 4am (Eastern).

If you are on a newer server, the population may still be very low.
