Thread: Final Reb tier 3 mission and ship loadout

OK, Its tough but I think I'm finally going to be able to solo this. I nearly managed it last time but my capacitor kept letting me down and I had to go evasive to try and build up some charge which resulted in those damn accurate Oppressors nailing me.
I'm in a Longprobe, so mass isn't an issue. What should I be looking at to keep my guns going longer --- recharge rate or overall charge ? My current capacitor has a max xharge of around 900 and a recharge of about 36 as I recall.
I'm running a 1000+damage blaster and a Heavy Ion Cannon.
Any advice on an effective loadout ?
Should I get an X-Wing instead ?

The X-wing will let you double your firepower output, as long as you can fit two decent guns on it. However, if you don't really want to change your ship, I would suggest either the higher recharge rate or a lower energy/shot ratio on your gun.

I had a similar problem in that I kept running out of rear shields and rear armour doing this mission and the prior ones.
I was using a 77 speed ship-wright made engine then switched to the 79 speed engine that I got when I completed the third mission.
With reactor overload 4 and engine overload 4 my x-wing does between 991 and 1040 speed, without using the booster.
This allowed me to outrun the tier 3 ties, so I would zoom, off, using booster till that ran out, keeping going until the combat music stopped, let my shield recharge, then go back for more. One time I went to the space station and got my armour repaired before going back.

find a neutral master pilot (if you are on chimaera then /t Bomb later this evening) and have him programm a "Capacitor Overcharge 4" for you. You will NEVER EVER AGAIN run out of Cap 
I got a lousy 900/900 cap with 39.9 Recharge rate in my Krayt. My Krayt fires 4 Weapons at it´s peak (when a gunner's in the turret) 3 of them are lvl8/9! So they suck down the cap quite good. But i can Fire continiously for about a minute before it runs dry on me.
Also for Weapons the Max Damage is not so important. check the "vs. Shield" and "vs. Armor". Those indicate how much percent of your max damage actually makes it through.
so a gun with (Example) 2000 dmg max and 0.5/05 would do 1000dmg on each
A gun with 2000 dmg max and 0.6/0.6 would do 1200dmg on each. sounds weird but that´s how it works atm...
hence, crafted guns SUCK (all of them) the only good weaponary comes from loot and Reverse Engineering!

I wouldnt use either of these. Use the level 3 program instead. Most people dont have a large enough reactor to deal with the 10x power requirement from their engine anyway. Id stick to capacitor overload 3 as well. Best bang for your buck.
Also you will find that even at master, you cant have all the level 4 programs anyway.

Over4 is okay, if you use a crafted Engine/Reactor and Cap, because then it does not matter how much they get wasted away 
btw. the dmg done by Reac ocer and Cap over 4 is negligable... not really a big problem.
