Where the heck is everyone?
I just got JTL yesterday and have been having a blast... but... where is everyone? I've spent atleast 10 hours ingame (Bloodfin) and I've never seen another player... yeah I'm only 1211 but I can't be the only one starting out... can I?!

I don´t know how populated Bloodfin is, but on Chimaera you stumble across Space N00bz all the time. And I helped quite a few of them
(will continue to do so as well).

Well space isn't like the ground game, which is 16km^2 : it is 16km^3, which is a lot more space to not see people in

true but on the ground you can't see people 6000km away.

Then again, in space we have an effective radar range of somewhere between 2-5 km, compared to the 100 m or so on ground. We "see" much more of the 16km^3 in space at one time compared to the 16km^2 on ground.

There's most definiately less people then there was at launch, but they're still up there. I'm at work and don't have the keymap in front of me, but it's either the K,L, or ; key that will cycle through all the players in your zone.
Honestly? I sort of like it. Space is supposed to be massive. When I'm up there now, I get that vast feeling.

Well, Starsider has a lot of people flying around. I fly in space a lot myself, and I'm overt half the time.
It's not exactly dangerous in space to be overt all the time like it is on the ground though.

Speaking from a personal bias, most people I know have gone back to the ground game. Just more to get out of it. Must say something for JTL huh?

It says nothing about JTL. The main reason people go back to the ground is because you can trade Space XP for Force XP. That's all there is to it. Most people have far mor fun in space from what I can tell.

Look at most ground locations as well. Aside from hotspots for grinding and major cities like Mos Eisley, Coronet or Theed there ain't exactly a crowd. I think it's because there's just so much territory out there it's hard to fill it up with PCs. Personally that suits me fine. I like RPing with folks and like to know where to go when I'm up for it. But largely players tend to disrupt my sense of immersion more than contribute to it - bring on the NPCs and the blissful solitude, I say. Besides I can chat allwant on global channels anyhow.
But space does have folks. And I run across more than a few around starports. Sometimes in deep space as well. I don't have any real problems, at least of the magnitude I've got with the ground game, in space. The feel's mostly right and doing patrols is both stimulating and relaxing. I can grind loads of credits and salvage while actually enjoying myself. MP ships are awesome for roleplaying as well. Getting a crew trained and showing up's almost a game goal in itself!
