Thread: overly difficult missions? are they getting harder?

Thats right, and I just said that I did it a week ago, not once, but twice - once with privateer (SA) and another with Rebel (Havoc). I find that many people who are having difficulty, dont know what droid commands are, have extremely poor equipment ect. I have had to constantly lecture my own damn PA for a while now, and people still dont want to take the trouble to use droid commands, but once they do, they are converted.


So just a checklist though:

1) Are you using all the droid commands you can stuff in your flight computer? (engine, capacitor, weapon, and reactor overload + sheild shunt, and emergency front if room)

2) Do you disable instead of destroying, on difficult missions, to slow the pace of the mission down?

3) Do you try to avoid fire, or do you just stick to something till it dies, no matter how hard you are getting hit in the rear?

4) Have you taken at least some time to optimize your components, instead of just having whatever fits on your ship?

5) Do you know how to use your special commands to help you out? (/iff, epulse ect)



Im not denying that there may be some hard missions out there that cant be soloed, but frankly most of them Ive tried so far are not that difficult. Im planning on trying Storm Squadron next, as I hear its more difficult. BTW none of this is anything special, nor do I have any phenominal talent. Just an adequately equipped ship, and I use all the tools at my disposal.

There are more aggressors to fight, they ALWAYS hit you, never miss.. and the Ties that we have to fight are SO hard to hit (if you can actually keep pace with them) that by the timeyou disable three of them two more waves have shown up. i dont understand why most of my shots at tie fighters have to miss them, when i can fly really well and nail everything else but A-wings with no problem. why make teir 4 and 5 NPC tie's so hard to hit when they are so strong anyways? it doesnt seem fair to me. and i HATE how these bas'tards can hitus every time they fire, no matter what i do. im trying not to bi'tch here,, but damn.


now im not a slouch, im a really good pilot and so is my friend. I mean we beat the mission a week ago... but for whom are they making these missions so difficult? id love to meet them and shake their hand.. maybe we can lessen the amount of baddies we have to fight and perhaps make them a little easier to hit, not to make the missions easy, but to make them fun and not impossible.


why is it fun to go up and get your ass blown off everytime to try a mission with fewer than 11 friends?

I also think that some missions have become harder, also agree on the above mentioned AI tweaks. Seems gunboats hit a lot harder again if you dont catch their blind spot.


Maybe a way to control the master to boredom rate. Still no real master content in game afaik.


As master I currently only enjoy helping others as I only get tier 2 spawn missions from the spacestations.


These missions are fun content but on those the enemy level should realy reflect the level of the mission taker

My friend and i completed the third tier 4 mission in smugglers allience for her a few weeks ago, and it was difficult but not impossible, it was fun and challenging. But yesterday and today we tried it again, this time for me.. and we keep failing it. is it me? or have missions gottenalot harderlately? its the exact same mission that we did before but now....

I did the majority of SA solo on release, then a week ago I did ALL of SA solo on an alt, including dropping the vette for master. Then I did all of havoc (rebels easiest I think) solo. Space isnt that difficult.

They are tweaking the AI all the time, whether they put it in the patch notes or not. So yeah, they could be different/harder than a few weeks ago due to the way the enemy "thinks"

lol there is always one of ya in the bunch lol

well grats to ya that you can solo everything that flys at ya lol

well some of us are not lighting fast like some of ya

now i am not trying to be a smart a$$. really

but come on the teir 3 mission 3 i had to do killed me like 10 times because of the constent waves they through at me i had to do the draw them out and hyper 6 times just to get the deilvery done.

Yes i think they have made it a little harder because everyone is just such a ace, but they forget about thoughs that are not.

And the prefect hitting npc's is ridiculous imho when i get 6 of them and 4 of them are on my back side while i chase one is a death trap.

You're right. At release, it was easy. since then alot of changes had been made, and it is much more difficult now.


To the original poster: When we did this mission for me, we had 4 of us, and got through it much better. Prior to that, we tried with three of us and failed.


See if you can find 2 more to help out. With the upgrades to the AI and tweaking of shields and armor, they are much more difficult.

Its not alwaysa matter of lack ofskill,the failures are becausethe majorityof players are flying around in underpowered ships.


i bet ppl tried to sayone time that theground gamestoo hard when onlyweilding D-18's and dressed in chitin.

Its not always a matter of lack of skill, the failures are because the majority of players are flying around in underpowered ships.

I agree.

Equipment makes all the difference in this game, well it does for me and I am a crap pilot.

I died 5 times doing my mandatory tier 1 missions. My 8 year old son had 1 death and sailed through them.

My point I have got the best equipment money can buy both re'd and ship-wright made and only because of that was I able to solo my tier 3 missions, I would not of had a hope otherwise.

I am totally in your shoes right now...


But im doing a teir 4 mission and had about 5 guys with me. Two masters.

One had a B-Wing bomber, another with a Kryat starship and three xwings.

We were all blown to crap! So yeah its getting harder and harder it seems. But remember that each time you do a mission it depends on how you go at it. Every time I do the last teir 4 mission I get different results. 50% done, 10% done, 65% done. The only result that is the same is getting my arss blown to bits. My chasis is almost 0 and Im gonna have to build another ship. Wonderful.

Also the stupid tie fighters are all targeting the mission holder.


I find the AI dumb right now. My friends all targeting the fighters and all Ties targeting me! Unreal im my opinion. It should be a dog fight not a slaughter. Every fighter should be targeting the closest apponent and dogfighting with them. Not every single one darting over to the misson holder and killing him.


I got some good tips though and this time I will be trying to get with the program.... Just using the FFC special to get them off my back. I think thats what its called. Also the sheild reinfocement. I hope this works for me.


cant wait to go back up and try it out.

Waste. This engine is too fast to be of use. I use an 8k mass 86 speed engine.

Id like to see a 10k mass weapon that is 3.8k-4.3k, as thats the stats of a RE10 weapon, which the lowest weight Ive seen is 50k.



"mark II spacebombs with 22k max damage and .5 shield mods"

Mark II spacebombs should be near or greater than 1 on efficiency to sheild and armor. Also, Spacebombs period are total crap on just about anything but a capital ship - waste of mass. I dont use these unless Im going up against the corvette.

Yes.

Yes.

Of course not. Also use shield reinforce in the occasion of a missile or two.

Of course. 2 3800-4000 damage guns, and a mark 4 launcher, or spacebomb II launcher.

Used to, until they nerfed epulse all to hell. Now, one shot from my guns do more damage than epulse3.

I use it all, and pride myself for having excellent equipment in my YT and my Firespray, using the lightest, most powerful equipment I could find, including a 108.4 speed engine with 75 PYR, and 26k mass, 2 guns with 10k mass each dealing 3.8k to 4.3k max damage, with .6 and .7 mods to shields and armor, mark II spacebombs with 22k max damage and .5 shield mods, and I still have a difficult time helping on some Tier 3 and Tier 4 Storm Squadron missions if there are only 3 of us. Yes, try Storm Squadron next. Then let me know how it goes.
