1.) Join a good guild.
2.) Have a guildie put you in a turret and head out to Deep Space.
3.) One you are 2,2,2,2 have your guildies group with you for all four tier 3 missions. You get one 'free' box per mission... No XP required.
4.) At 3,3,3,3 head out to Deep Space again with a guildie and grind up to 4,3,3,3
5.) Get a BS Attack Ships and load it to the gills and head out to Kessel and grind up to 4,4,4,4
6.) Have your guildies help you with the last two missions.

I did all of RSF which is imperial all by myself and SADLY I never died 1 single time in any mission for Privateer.

In order from easiest to hardest:
1. RSF
2. CorSec
3. Smuggler's Alliance.

You'd be more wise to conisder what style of play you want and what those you know fly. If you fly rsf, you won't be doing any imperial killing with any rebel friends you have.
CorSec can currently kill all factions except CorSec and can chose rebel or imp corvette mission for master
SA can currently kill all factions except Hutt, but must destroy an imperial vette for master
(note: going into deep space is going to set you to a faction even after you leave)
I don't really see joining a guild being the fastest approach to leveling pilot really. Plenty of people have done just fine alone and/or with a few good wingmen.
