i got 2 ideas for a new pilot type proffesion one is a mix of pilot and ground proffesion
Freighter pilot
1st idea so youve mastered either rebel freelancer imperial pilot....fighters aint your thing the multi pass ship is what you crave ? a new proffesion could be added called freighter pilot ( exuse all spelling mistakes) basicaly its very similar to pilot no skill points for any skill . you start out with your nova yt or decimator as your starting ship that you can use at master pilot . you will now do story driven quests just like pilot . at the beginning you start out with just cargo transport missions you work your way up to some small capital ships like the vette or the republic ship in episode 3 things like that which is more fire power heavy .
Space pirate
2nd proffesion is space pirate. you will go up same as pilot by doing quest and practing your proffesion. you will get story driven quest as well. to be a space pirate you place mines in certain hyper space routes that will now be on pois. a new component will now be required for all ships called the hyper drive (does not have any mass) this will make it so you can go in to hyper space . there will be better and faster ones that will make the course calucation faster .with the mines in place in hyperspace routes any ship that happens to be traveling thro hyper space going in that lane and hits a mine the hyper drive will be kocked out causing the ship to exit hyper space . the space pirtae will now have to disable the defenses of that ship and take out the reacotor . the pirate will now dock with the ship. a skill to cut down doors will be in novice to break a entery to the ship when entered space pirate npcs will spawn all throught the ship . it is now the pirates job to kill any crew left on the ship he can do either 2 things or both . run around in each room look for any containers supplies parts cash anything keep it put it in your ship. now you can do 2 things either go repair what you have destoryed in the ship if you realy like this ship more then yours and keep the ship as your own the ship you were 1st in will then be placed back in data pad and you can fly the ship you just captured. there will now be pirate space stations which you can sell stolen vessels for parts.the quests will consist of harder bigger ships that you can take over ( note fighters can be knocked out of hyper space but cant be boarded you can only destory it .

i love the idea i wish that i could fight in my yt-1300 from the pilot seat so if they add that and your idea i will be one happy boy

Not to discount your ideas, but they could add those capabilities to the existing system without quite as much work.
I for one, would love to see Freighter Cargo missions and Boarding missions added to the game, but I don't think we need new professions to enable those abilities.
I understand that this sort of stuff might be available in the Capital Ship expansion.

ya but that would be useless i can see maybe like a space pirate quest like space minnning but the frieghter ships defenintly should be a next pilot proffesion you can go into after you master pilot

Have any of you read this?!!!! First of all the pirate destroys one of your components immediately. Then if he wins in the fight where he boards your vessel, he gets to steal everything in your vessel, and your ship, including your components!!!!!! From whatI read, if you win, you get to steal the pirates ride. Also I think he mentioned ally pirate npc'sspawning when he enters your ship, an extra advantage to the pirate.Also would make the neccesary process of hyperspace very dangerous. Plus pirates could exploit Kashyyk, because you need to hyperspace to get there. Pirate is a good idea, but if made as costly as this to both parties, I might not pilot anymore.

Never planned it being a pvp thing more geared towards pve i guess if some one is overt and hits a mine then it would work for pvp
also space is dangerous its dangerous today and even more in SW every ship that flys has a gun

That would be absolutely terrible. As if space PvP isn't dead already. I don't think people will be very happy about seeing their JSF and their pre-nerf level 6 Engine stolen.
also space is dangerous its dangerous today and even more in SW every ship that flys has a gun
Space is dangerous today because we lack knowledge/experience and technology.
It's a game, it's not supposed to be realistic.
If it kept strictly to PvE, it might be barely viable; Freighter Pilot would either be laughably weak (due to PoB's ineffectiveness), or uber, because the 'vette will just own PvE more than Quad Resist Comp + Doc Buffs + Double Brandy + Swordsman/Doctor did in ground PvE.
Space Pirate would be a big blow to the economy, when you can grab all these ships left, right, and centre. Shipwrights take a big hit on business, and more inflation kicks in.
And lastly, too much work for the devs, too much grinding, and too many forsee-able nerfs.
