Thread: Do we lose money when we die?
I was doing a mission, was swept in to a dogfight with five NPC enemies, and died. That's not so odd, since I'm new at this, but what happened next is:
The game went through it's "destroy your ship so you feel bad" routine, playing the little cinimatic, and I spawned back at the nearest space station, a good 4000+ m away. No enemies anywhere -near- me. The station chat thinger popped up, asking me what I wanted to do, but before I could reply, the game switched back to the cinimatic, replayed it, and respawned me at the station.
This happened repeatedly, about four times, before finally stopping.
I checked my datapad, and my bank account was stone dry. Not a credit to my name. All I had was the money I'd had on me, about 300 credits, plus whatever was on the credit chip in my inventory as loot from my kills. I didn't bother to check it.
Prior to entering space, I'd had over 1000 credits in the account. Not a whole lot, but it's a hefty sum when your new, as I am.
Oh, and how exactly does one get repairs at the space station? I selected the complete repair option, I had the money on me to cover the cost. The station told me I'd been repaired, but the state of my ship and my wallet disagreed; neither had been touched. I tried the other three options as well, nothing did anything. Irritating.
I'm a fairly new player, still at Tatooine, if that helps any.
Well your right that is odd. Dieing in space itself shouldn't take any credits off you unless there is a new special bug and considering how many bugs make it live from test center these days thats very possible but your not meant to lose credits for dieing only for the repairs after.
As for repairing your doing it the right way by comming the station and asking for full repairs, you might need to have the credits in the bank for the repiars to really go through instead of on you. I've never tested that.
As for this being a possible bug, do the devs read these boards, or should I report it somewhere? Either way, I think this character is hosed. The station won't repair me, and if I land, I don't have the cash to buy a repair kit and get back up in to space. I've zero interest in the ground based aspects of this game, at least as far as non-pilot related stuff goes, so I'm not going to screw around with professions or ground missions to get some credits, especially when the odds are that this will happen again.
On different note, these boards seem very firefox-unfriendly. I can't post or login using firefox. Is this just me, or a known issue?
Ouch, that's a nasty bug. I haven't heard of it but I haven't been on these boards for a while.If the devs read these forums they are very very good at pretending they don't and the same goes for reading bug reports.
Only things I can see helping is puting in a ticket in game and hoping when a CSR finaly responds that they actuelly help instead of giving you a caned responce. Or if your only starting pilot you could drop your skills and restart, might shake the bug lose on you. Hopefully another pilot on here knows more about this.
Oh and the ship repair kit is only usefull when your in a multiplayer ship.
No idea about firefox, never used it.
