Thread: When's It Gonna Blow??

Hey,

There's been a bit of confusion on the boards about the hitpoints relating to ships' chassis in Jump To Lightspeed. I've already found out that, as ships get destroyed and repaired, their hitpoints decay gradually. However, I distinctly remember a quote from some devs that ships will *never* be destroyed, and that the only way a ship can be destroyed is to go into your datapad and delete it yourself.

However, if ships do gradually decay in hitpoints, won't it eventually reach 0 and become useless/destroyed? Doesn't that contradict the earlier statement that ships will never be permanently destroyed? The only other explanation I can think of is that a ship's chassis stops decaying at a certain point. A minimum condition that, after reaching, the chassis will cease to decay. My guess is that it would be 1 hitpoint. Please clarify this for both myself and the community. It is a very important, though easily answered, part of Jump To Lightspeed.

Thank you

if this is true it probably gets to 1/1 and then stops...... which means its almost useless

Maybe as the condition of the ship decreases, so do the hit points? so repair the condition and the hit points will be fully restored, or something like that..

Damn this sucks! That is the reason I never spent major credits on armor or weapons I was planning on using in combat.

It's not useless at 1/1 condition. If all your shields and armor are taken out (which is pretty much the majority of your defenses, hitpoints dont account for anything), you're pretty much screwed anyway. Supposing a ship shoots for 800 dmg, it's only gonna take 3 shots to bring down the ship with 100% hitpoints. It hardly makes a difference.

Also, hitpoints arent what your defenses are. Shields go first, then armor, then hitpoints. So as long as you have shields and armor, 1 hitpoints wont make much of a difference
