Thread: Opening up for more characters per accounts

I have played several other MMORPG and one of the reasons I waited so long to join into SWG was the fact that you are only able to have 1 character per server. Now that two new races are being added, I think that it is unfair to make people delete or have to move servers to try these races. SOE allows more characters in E.Q. why not let us have the same freedom. I enjoy my character a great deal but I would like to be able to spend more time work in a few skills instead of making a jack of al trades character because I enjoydifferent skill types.

I would even be willing to have a limited amout of access for each character i.e. same amount of space for lot no matter the number of characters (they would all live in the same house and take turns with the dishes). I enjoy Role playing and it is very cool to experiment with the characters, but life is hard when I am spread out on different servers just so that I can play another style of character or mainly different species.

For those people that only want to playONE character, fine they do not have to make up new characters. As forthe rest of us that would enjoy the choice of that Wookiee ranger, Twilek businesswoman, and a bothan doc, plus holding a space for a new race star ship builder, and maybe a few more slots I plede for opening up our accounts.

I personally don't think it will happen, also I hope it don't happen. With only haveing one character per server, it makes the free market economey(sp) in this game better. Makes you depend more on your fellow gamers for equipment, buffs, buildings, etc.....

well, i could see the game going 2CS allowing players to try out the new profession and the new race(s). this really couldn't do too much harm to the player economy, and for the fact that the Free Markey Economy has yet to be affected by the people out there with multiple accounts, i see no reason why a making SWG MCS is a bad idea.

One character per server is a marketing ploy....why have more than 1 when people will go out and buy new game+$15 a month for one?







The NGE is a decent start. Now lets bring the rest of the worlds up to par with Tatooine and Mustafar

Yeah they have the "one character per server" restriction for two reasons:


1. It forces you to either be a flexible character, changing your profession many times over, or to rely on fellow gamers for what you need. With more accounts on the same server, you could have your fighter, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, and Droid Engineer on the same server. Your crafting classes can make your warrior items for free. And that would take away from relying on other players. It was done this way so that you would have to rely on one of your fellow gamers to sell you the weapon you want.


2. As it was said, to force players who still insist on doing it their way and having multiple characters to purchase another game. That way you pay $30 plus the $15 a month charge to play it your way, and they get more money.


I personally like it this way. I never was much for the Diablo "Mule" players or making multiple characters on EQ to help your main character along. You can still have 8 different characters, just on different servers. And it's more enjoyable to me to rely on others and work together... even if just a little.

hidkel its becouse of that they dont want people to ruin the ruined ecconomy... look at the weaponsmith givin ghes weapons to the next character the slicer who gives is on to the next and so on..

2nd character's would save this game by a large amount, personaly im still rested on wether to make my present account a fighter or a crafter , or a mix, my prob is skill points, 2nd accounts would save this game , reason 1... one account a fighter, 1 account crafter would MAKE people open up the market on buying locations and compeditive prices (lower costs, better materials...[example:doctors, buffs were 10k at one time for a premium buff, now there 15k and are 200 to 400 points worse, and doctors are harder to find] A second account would open up the market for MORE doctors, CHEAPER costs, and BETTER buffs... This goes for ALL classes including combat wise, you would be able to find more diverse combat accounts out there that could be backed by crafters when hunting isnt a steady job.


reason 2... people would have a good thing that they would like about SOE and having a second account, bringing some ppl into the game and some people back, because that wouldnt limit a game as badly as it is right now.


reason 3.... prices would open up, there would be more things being sold (rarer especially), hunting groups would be larger, and people wouldnt have to wait around for the few people theyknow that can help them with stuffanymore, which has drained the days of so many people.......Simply a second account would make this game worth playing, it would open up this game to be more coop, you will always need other peoplewhen buying armour or weapons but atleast youd be able to make trades on thosetypes of things and acctually have a vendors which would be of some use while still having a combat class account that would allowyou to hunt out what stuff you need to craft better, rather then hunt it down on some distant vendor which doesnt even having it anymore....

2+ Players on servers.

My experience with servers that allow 2+ players per server have been very negative. Eve-Online is an example I like to use, most players had their building character, fighting character, and a disposeable character. I'm not too worried about people being able to have both builders and fighters on the same servers, but having disposeable characters leads to all kinds of scams, untraceable thefts, and a whole mess of problems that come from the less honorable types. The 2nd slot you gain because of making jedi I wouldn't consider disposeable, not many are going to work that long just ot have an extra slot they can trick people, or spy on people with.

So I hope they always keep it down to 1 normal char slot per server. I can see how it would be nice to be able to log into your alt and build a space ship, or an uber weapon but that is one of the things I really like about this game, you can't have everything, you have to trade off what skills you want to use and depend on others to help u with things you can't do on your own.

I find it frustrating that I can't do combat things with the guys I do crafting things for. Am I just silly?
I don't think two toons would break anything. I do see why you might not what 5...
