How will the Covert/Overt status work in JTL? Will it be like it its now, and Imperials can perform searches on you or will you just be always overt?

Also another question, if you are an Alliance Pilot and you are flying a Neutral Ship through space will you stay covert or will you go cvert?

There are like 7 posts on the first page about this but:

You will not be overt in space unless you declare

You can only engage in PvP while overt

There are no TEFs in space

You wont be able to fly a Reb and Nuet ship without having the prof, but you can only have 1 or the other at a time

if you're overt when you launch you're overt in space and player attackable (weather you're flying as an alliance pilot or a privateer). If you're covert when you launch then you're covert in space, no matter what you're flying or what you do, players will not be able to attack you. Otherwise you will be perma NPC overt if flying as an alliance pilot and you'll probably have a few enemies that will always attack you if flying as a privateer (probably depending on your factional standing with the NPCs faction).

no, it just makes it better. Too many people are yelling about the "but what about the roleplay aspects" and such. Well, I ask you, how is it roleplaying to spot a covert imp flying arround (you know he's imp because he's flying a Tie Fighter) then follow him untill you see him attack an NPC X-Wing (probably for a mission he took) and then attack him from behind destroying his ship? That's why it's in, to stop the griefers. There will be plenty of PvPers running arround, if the combat is good enough (reason why there is so little PvP on ground game is because it's all been taken over by the "uber leet" with their 90% composite armor, buffs, and kyrat sliced weapons out there that combat has just gotten to be more of a joke than any fun, when actual skill factors in alot more people will want to do it) so don't worry about the people who just want to go out and gain a little bit of experience fighting against NPCs and not worry about watching his back every time he goes out to make sure noone is following him trying to sneak up and kill him first sign of him attacking an "ally".

no. the way they had it was if your in a tie, and someone sees you in a Xwing, your gonna duke it out. thats what i wanted. this is just to please the people who dont wanna pvp...which is the main reason for the expansion. IMO.

of course it's for the people who don't want to PvP, which there are plenty of. Even the PvP lovers (like myself, at least space-based, always hated ground combat) would want some time where they could just go off an fight a few NPC ships without having to fight any actualy hard oponents. Don't worry, if combat's as good as they have been hyping (prity much, anything like the old X-wing games and it will be good) then there will be more than enough Overts running arround looking for a player to match their skills up against that the ocasional covert will not even be noticeable.

i know the combat will be good, but im worried about dieing 10 times just to get to the terminal to launch my ship. i can already forsee the gank squads on imps just camping the terms killing every reb. now if they could get rid of that...id agree with it, and be overt every day.

I doubt that will happen, for one, only ones doing that would be the ones who don't have JTL so have nothing better to do (cause all other overt imps will be up there flying arround fighting) and there are multiple starports on every planet (except Lok, but if someone's desperate enough for a fight to be camping Lok's starport, then that's just sad) so even if they try to block one starport all you have to do is jump on your swoop and go to any of the others.

And how long do you think they're gonna be there uncontested? As soon as a few members from a big rebel guild gets killed by them they're gonna call out their rebel buddies to come in a get rid of them, and it will all devolve into a giant battle throughout the city and the starport will just be forgotten so the people who want to launch from there will get to go by without wory. (well, we can hope anyways)

True, but im kinda a loner, i like to stay close to Cnet. dont travel to other cities on Corellia often, seeing as i have everything near Cnet (and always seem like something needs maintence everyday, lol).

so by the time the rebels come running around, id probably have died a few times im also real stubborn, i wont leave Cnets area unless i have to.

hmm... i was thinkin, ya know how they have the timer on overt when you shuttle out? well how about a new overt that shields you for 5 minutes, or the first ship you take (either player ship or npc shuttles). gets rid of the whole campin starport problem, and makes you overt, and once you land, you need to be ready. it seems like a good idea to me. what do you think?
