I was wondering if certain professions such as Master Artisan or one of the new professions will be able to create ships, if so please tell me which profession it is

Shipwright. A totally new starter profession.

Last I heard by the Devs it was a new starter profession, then there may be an elite profession branching off of it. But I think it's still in development, so it could go either way.

some new developments from Gen Con (a convention that's demoing JTL now). Shipwright is indeed a starter profession. Novice takes 15 skill points and could be worth 77 points total like any other starter profession. But here is the kicker, players at Gen Con reported in this thread here
have seen that Shipwright actually branches, possibly at Master Shipwright level, into an elite profession called Starfighter Engineer. Now i'm still waiting for proof either by devs or someone who snapped a pic of these on one of the screens displaying JTL but it's been reported by multiple Gen Con SWG players who attended the convention. I wish RThornton, a very relyable developer who's recently been writing post in our JTL boards and diswaying rumors from starting on false information, can comment on this cause i'd sure love a confirmation of some sort.

Actually, shipwright takes no skill points, just like all of the other new space based proffesions. Either that or it runs off of a different pool of skill points. And I'm not sure about the elite branch either, I heard that master shipwright is as high as you can go.

Actually, shipwright DOES take skill points. Only the piloting skills do not use skill points.

Hes right..only the piloting professions take their own set of skill points..OR none at all..hasnt been decided..devs are swaying towards...no skill points needed..not even their own set of points..but can only go with one Type..Rebel/Neutral/Imperial..

All major JTL content requires the purchase of JTL for each account you want to use it on.

No, you have to buy JTL (for each account, no less)to have access to JTL content, likeShipwright. It is otherwise just like any other crafting profession, except there may or may not be some unique means of gaining the profession

Without JTL, you:

1) cannot become a Shipwright, nor have access to new, exclusivelyShipwright-related crafted components outside the skill tree, like what Armour Padding is to Armoursmith... a Tailor-made component used exclusively for Wookiee armour.

2) cannot become a Pilot

3) cannot ride in a multi-player ship

4)cannot create a character ofeither ofnew species, although you can see and interact with characters of the new species. (speculation) Nor, I think, would you be capable of crafting itemsunique tothe new species, like Ithorian clothing and armour. (/speculation)
