Will crafters need JTL to make the ships? I know you will need it to use them.....just wondering if we are gonna be able to make them......thanks and sorry if this has been asked already.....

yes. Shipwright is one of the professions thats comes with JTL. Without JTL, you cannot become a shipwright. The following you also cannot get/become without JTL:
Sullustian
Ithorian
Rebel Pilot
Imp Pilot
Privateer
Shipwright
Use any items/loot from space
etc
