plugged away at several asteroids and no chunks....with a mining laser....any tips? or just keep trying different asteroids?

I haven'tbeen mining with my Y-8, i'm using it for combat. I hear that the laser will only break of chunks if you are traveling at speeds of 500 or above, then again others report that even this doesn't work for them. I'm afraid the Y-8 is still useless for miningStick to a fighter with mining equipment for the moment, hopefully these issues will be addressed sooner rather then later.

the pilots gun only works at high speeds and the turrents only work if theirs a person siting in the pilots chair

OMG! I've been looking for the answer to mining equipment not working! Soooo, to get mining cannot to actually mine, and tractor beam to actually pull in stuff need a pilot at helm?!
A little dumb I feel. The ship can be parked at 500m from a rock and two people could sit in new front turrets, one tractor one laser. No more than 2 should be needed really. Shame.
OH have they turned off blackend windows yet?
