The actual TIE models were black and grey. The blueish look was probably due to the old matting process used to transfer them to film.

I see,I thought there was somehing to do with the special effect processes from back then.

The TIE/Ln (or TIE/In, can't remember which is right) is blue in color.

TIEs are White and Black, they were suppost to be blue but they wouldnt show up if they were blue since SFX are done on blue screens(back when SW was made blue was much more common then green screen).

I think i saw on the new DVD that they were still blueish. I'll have to watch it again.

In the new added scenes of the Death Star attack in Episode IV Special Edition the TIE's are clearly black and grey. As I said the origional models were that colour, the better special effects of today allowed them to show in there original colours
