Thread: Problem with seemingly unkillable tier 1 ships

Its a server client hit detection bug. What you have to do is play around with aiming FAR ahead of the target. Just move slowly ahead while holding down fire till you see NUMBERS go down NOT a graphical indicator. The graphical indicator is done entirely by the client and not from a que given from the server. I used to have this problem at first, then found that the hit sweet spot can be at some odd intervals ahead of the target. Basically you want to aim your shots so your target runs into the shot. And missiles are pretty much borked for me since they almost always aim for and hit the invulnerable parts of enemy ships.

My girlfriend and I have been playing SWG for quite some time. We both have JTL now and I haven't had any problems. She, however, can't kill some tier 1 fighters. I have no idea why. It's certainly not for lack of skill. She's flying a dunelizard right now and has two fairly powerful weapons. She can hammer on the enemy craft for nearly an eternity, but their shields rarely, if ever, go down. Even as we speak she is unloading on a tier 1 Black Sun and its shields are going UP. She is definitely hitting, as the shield impact effects are going off. She's just about had it, and I'm not sure what to do. We both have fun playing together and we can't figure this one out. Something to do with our individual computers or network connections?

What you might be attacking is another player spawn(missions ships) wich will give u a high pitched beep when you hit them , wich means u cant hurt em at all and they dont fire back on you.

Yup, thats most likely it.

I had a real problem with this the other day. There were a couple of TIEs that I couldn't damage, but they stayed on my tail dishing out punishment during my entire mission. It was really annoying. However, it is rare when that happens.

If you and your girlfriend are grouped you should have no problem damaging one another's targets.

But..you are not alone.

I has a simular problem. I did the first mission with no problems (Privateer) but after that one I could hardly damage a thing. 1 in 20 shots would damage teir 1 shields and my blaster bar (the one that depletes the more you fire) would not decrease at all. I logged out and dropped my pilots skill. I had to go to Bestine to do that. Then started from scratch again. Its been fine ever since.

Hrmph. Well, this seems to be a pretty widespread problem. These missions are definitely my girlfriends missions. The targets are hers and they're hostile. They just won't go down. Even when I try it myself they won't go down. Shots ARE impacting, or at least appear to be... but most of the missions time out because no damage is being done. Here are some more links to posts with the same bug/problem. One theory is that JTL isn't transferring data properly through the internet on some PCs. Maybe we can all pool together and get something done about it.

Until then, maybe we'll try dropping the skills and starting over (which I can tell you right now she's not gonna be happy about).

If you are attacking the targets of another players missions, you will hear the shields sound and a beeping noise when you "hit" it. You can do no damage to these targets. Try running a mission from her trainer and see if the problem continues. I "fought" a tier 1 ship for 5 minites without doing any damage, the mission owner came along and distroyed it with 4 or 4 hits. Bummer...
