Thread: Cutscenes would be cool...

Ok when I land at a planet or take off the only thing I see is a stupid loading screen...

What I want:

-When you take off or land your ship you should first see a short cutscene of your ship taking off/landing at the starport u are for about 5-10 seconds and then the loading screen should pop up.

I mean something like in Kotor where you can see the Ebon Hawk take off or land at the planet you are.

This is just a little thing that would make JTL even better, what do you peeps think about it?

I agree, as long as a button in the options screen is added to switch it on/off.


Heck, I would like to see my avatar climb aboard the ship, then see it take off, accompanied with some very nice "star wars takeoff/transition music"

Cool, but after what, the 100th time, if not earlier, it loses it,s appeal and you're quick to hit the "ESC" key our mouse button in order to skip it.

Besides, if they did that, it would take away resources needed for combat revamp and other important things for publishes for a while. Although minimal resources, I agree, still...


And besides, it costs money for something that would be "cool" for only a little while...

I still woud rather have them keep on working on the game than make a movie that I'd skip after the second time... or third, if I'm really into it...

ide much rather see alot of little things like this added and have the combat revamp delayed a bit. to me little things like that make a big difference.

Although I love the idea of the cutseans taking off and landing, and I can see how you can lessen resources by including only a generic planetside starport for each planet (a tatooine-ish starport, a nabooian like starport...), and using the ingame models to take off and land...


I don't see this happening. And I think it would be true that it would start being a pain around the 100th time, and we'd be begging to have a way to turn it off. Some people are ALREADY complaining about the Hyperjump effect being too long!!


A change that would be nice, however, is, instead of using those starship terminals in the big starports, we'd have instanced docking bays...like the one the Falcon was in.


Just a small room like area behind a door that would have a representation of your ship on the ground with the hatch open. as soon as you enter the hatch, you get the launch proceedure. taht would be great for immersion, and shouldn't get boring too fast. Bored already? Just enter the door and head up the ramp to go. Or, still have the option to use the starship terminals.


Maybe some animated steam purges about the ship and atmospheric noises. Perhaps a static lifter droid can be clicked to "manage" the ship parts, like you would use the 3po shuttle ticket collector...

Sure, the cutscenes for take off and landing in the Ebon Hawk were awesome for each planet, butafter the first few times of seeing each one I just skipped them. I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort to add these cutscenes that within a couple of weeks, everyone will be skipping...

I'd like some cutscenes too. The instanced hangar is a good idea.


Be nice for scenes on the ground of others taking off and landing too - the immersion sought of falls over when you are just dumped in the middle of the starport area.


The ship models already exist, could have an option to view player ships coming in and out of the starport - they couldland and take off from a walled off area so many ships dissapearing into the same landing zone wouldn't have to be all drawn (you could imagine them being docked off in hangar bays.


For the pilot they would just be instanced into their own hangar area with a door leading off to a lift cubicle - all of which lead to the same place in the starport. When you want to take off you enter the lift room - could be a departure and prep area with lockers, appropriate scenery etc - and then enter the transport lift that takes you to your (instanced) area with your ship. Enter your ship and take off with a pre-rendered cut scene.


Those on the ground see your ship leaving from an area of the spaceport and it dissapears over the horizon as with the existing transport shuttles and space faring ships.


Should be do-able...

How about at least the loading screen being our ship takeoff / landing at a spaceport.3 backgrounds would be neededone of the cnet/ bespine type starport a 2nd of the smaller dant/dath type and lastly a theed one.
