Thread: turret droids!

what i would like to see, is opps/turret droids. and DE can experiment on accuracy n stuff, and repair droids too. but what i would LOVE to see... is for them to have the appearance of Epp1 pit droids, as theyre uber cool.


any thoughts?

Not sure about 1 for the turret but 1 as a co-pilot would be good, could work like in a normal ship but slower.

Your astromech droid or flight computer should be able to control your turret(s) given the right programs.

using droids to auto-pilot would be helpful to hate having to travel 10k on auto-pilot and stay in the seat, its not a very good auto-pilot if you have to stay there still.

i think having droids able to use your turrets is a bad idea. the npc's accuracy is already to high to begin with. if you put droids in a player run ship you take away a player aspect of the game. and create other problems likes having multi passenger ships become the ship of choice because of hte use of droids using turrets. but it won't be a multi passenger ship in use. it will be one person piloting and just going around and blasting things... pretty stupid if you ask me.

i dont think they will EVER implement this. This would allow afk camping of spawns. just like when fighters go out camping meatlump spawns. i would not like to see this added and im a DE. I would like to see a piloting droid that would be just fine and its not game breaking or allow camping.

What if you could program flight manuvers into your droid in flight, like an entertainer programs music so the droid can play along. This way you can activate the droid to fly the programmed flight path while you man the turret. I think this would be awesome for Droids and flight computers.

while i still dont like the idea, if they do make a turret droid, it should require that the pilot designate a target and hold the fire button. the droid should just aim at the designated target.

this would give an advantage to player controlled turrets in that players can target two ships at once, and would also make it more difficult to afk camp (although im sure you could create a macro to auto target closest and fire constantly)

I don'tsee any problem with turrets that can be set to auto defensive mode. Just need a few new programs and a flight computer/astromech droid. And I don't think there's a potential afk camping problem either. What's the point of camping a spawn point in space anyways? The xpis already easy enough to get. For loot? Well, you have a limited cargo hold so how long can youafk-camp before you run out of space in your inventory? Notto mention it'sextremely dangerous toafk-camp inspace unless your auto turrets can kill things really fast and efficient,but I don't think the devs will make them like that,or ifyou prefer camping very low level like,Tier 1/Tier 2 ships, but then again what's the point for that?
