First off, I am relatively new. Played for about 2 days when the expansion came out, come back a few months later, everyone is a master pilot lol...I need to play catch. I fly a y-wing (non-longprobe) and I am leveling on tier 2. I have tier 1 completely filled out. I am working on my first skill box.

1. How long is it supposed to take to kill ships? It takes me sometimes 5 minutes just trying to hold down the blaster button and waste shields on tier 2 enemies. I play from the cockpit view, and the lead aiming reticule doesn't seem very accurate... (see question 3)

2. I am on the tier 2 viopa duty missions, and is this supposed to be the "quest based system " so bragged about? These are 3 repetive, repeating duty missions as just some story fillers to grind tie fighters. I don't even get a new mission after I achieve one. They are just the same thing over and over until you are done grinding to the next level, I presume. The first few missions were from and immersive, but I guess they just use that to draw you in...do those great quest based tier 1 missions ever continue, or am I stuck with these "duty missions" for the rest of the grinding space career? Or maybe I am going to the wrong person (?) If I am, whom should I go to?

3. Space combat gets boring. Is it just me, or am I just flying in circles, holding my joystick at a certain angle shooting at a green symbol for 5 minutes? The ai just flys around and around. The projectile speed needs to be greatly increased. What can be otherwise very immersive loses tons of value when you are just flying around shooting at a symbol from the cockpit view. Adding to it, it takes 1-5 minutes to kill an enemy. So yay, I get to fly in circles shooting at a symbol for 3 minutes.

4. How do you change the laser linking? I. E. single shot, linked which is the default...how do you change it?

5. Alright, well if the answer to 1 and 3 is "a short time" or "yes" can anyone give me killing tips? I probably just suck so it takes a lonnng time to kill an enemy, which drags on quite a bit.

1. it used to take me about 2-5 min in a Y-wing, but i flew from 3rd person. Also, the retical isnt accurate, you have to try and aim in the corners of it, thats seems to work for me. Depending on what way they are going, depends on where you shoot.

2. Duty missions are boring. Then you get some of the mission missions, do the escort duty missions, they seem to give more exp. Your going to the right person, you have to do duty missions every tier, except the 3rd one i think, i think thats all story missions. Im pretty sure one of them is like that.

3. hehe, youll get used to it. When you learn how they fly, and the do fly in a pattern, youll take them down faster. It does get boring sometimes.

4. hit ctrl+g or just g, you can change it in there.

As far as killing tips, like i said, youll learn the patterns. Also, when you get better equipment, it will go a lot faster. If youre not doing duty missions, and just flying around and killing stuff, try to stay away from shielded ships. For now, until you get better equipment.

Good luck

Thanks

Just one more question: I understand you need to be master to access deep space, but do need to be master to access kessel? How do you get into kessel?

You have to declare overt at a faction space station before entering kessel.

Not anymore. PvP is consentual in Kessel now. You don't need to declare to enter kessel. And anyone can go to Kessel, just be aware, there be tier 5 enemies about. You just need to a same faction station.

Well, each faction has a space station thet will allow you access to either Deep Space, or Kessel. I know the neutral one is a netural station at the dathomir sector. You contact the station, as if you wanted to repair or land, and the stationmaster will ask you if you wanted to go to deep space, kessel, or quit talking. I'll see if i can get the info on the imperial and rebel station waypoints.

And, can you fly a Yacht in Kessel? I never tried in Live, But, i don't remember seeing any Yachts in all the times i've been there...

heres a tip: I didnt do ANY duty missions at all, I just went to the Corsair POI and killed corsair bombers or whatever they are called (the kimo's) Only problem is that even though killing corsairs on the ground INCREASES nym faction, killing them in space hurts nym faction, so unless you can fight well or know how to sneak past them, your gonna have a problem getting to viopa.

Other options to help pass the XP grind is to go in groups it's a lot more fun also help lower level pilots out on there mission ( more so once your a liitle higher up the tree ) the storrys are good in the mission based parts and good fun in a small group. Also if you have guldies or know others with Multi Player ships if they are going in to space on missions or just random killing spree join them as a gunner, you will not get loot but you will get XP, it's something diffrent to do.
