I have been playing SWG for just over a year now and during that time I have seen the game morph into something thats very unstarwars like. I just hope that i can fit it all in this letter to share with you an that it will help give the Dev's something to chew on for fixing the game.
First item is that for being a rare thing there are waaayyy to many jedi's the game has gone from hologrind crazy now to POI / content hoping an POOF your on the path to jedi. I know jedi are cool looking an when everyone thinks of starwars they picture Jedi. But jedi have killed this game in a way. Many folks spent months Afk grinding an using programs to grind from what i have read on boards. Guilds fell apart from that becouse no one was playing to gether. PVP dropped off becouse everyone had funky templets that wouldnt work in pvp due to hologrinding. Now everyone is out killing to level up there new force slots. I dont know how many folks i have seen in places like the Geo caves doing AFK macro killing to level up. Its really sad. What is there in the game now to keep folks there once they hit jedi!! oh yeah.. the pvp. Which brings me to my next complant.
Second item- PVP.. pvp has become a joke in the game. First with all the evening the class's has made pvp weak becouse only a few class's are useful anymore.. (cm's / rifleman / fencers/ tka.. with all the def stacking) you dont see BH's out there killing on there own class.. how many commandos anymore do you in a fight.. let along a CH with its pets. First ATST's got nerfed becouse ooh there so tough.. What should have been done to those is instead of them being a pet they should have had to have a two man crew.. an been weak to some sort of attacks like oooh rockets or mines.. or sniper shot.. maybe gas attacks. That would have made them more fun an usefull in pvp. All class's should have some really good thing to pvp with but be weak somewhere to be taken down by anyone. To be honest i have more fun PVPing on SW battlefronts then i do in SWG. There at least everyone stands a chance(at least till the stupid hackers slice the game to hell an make it awful to play)!! Soon the servers will be over run with pvping Jedi ...ooh even more fun since they are suppost to be a rare item?? There needs to be more effort into making pvp work in teams so that all class's are useful. Look at the carbine line.. it says its a assault class but what does it really do.. not much.. with all the def stacking on melee an ranged class's it doesnt do much.. even in pve. But yet its the ground pounder class?? come on folks lets get stuff cookin on these. im sure there are lots of folks that have left SWG becouse of these reasons. Fix up pvp an maybe make planets full pvp ..not just a battle field.. like if you add Hoth.. make it soon as you are out of the spaceport your open to pvp. so theres no TEF ganging.. just straight up kill or be killed.
PVE- oooh heres a fun one!! lets see.. Krayt dragons.. i see them soloed alot. for such a tough monster they get taken out easy by the right Class stacked person. There are no epic fights into a hard lair besides the DWB an corvette.. ect. but even those can be done with about 3 peeps if they have the class stacking goin on. I have read about folks soloing the corvette to farm engines an av21's to sell becouse they know tricks to slide though them. Missions are a joke becouse you go out to a spawn an oh look kill it an its over. at least EQ missoins the area would change.. the mobs would change.. traps would change.. folks had to be careful. Theres nothing to worry about if you die.. you get some decay.. big deal.. in EQ you learned to not die becouse you paid for it hard. theres no EPIC battles to hold folks.. leveling is made to easy when you can AFK macro level in like the Geo cave. or you can camp out on a spawn like the Ackley or firespiders that folks with uber pve templets sit on 24/7 with afk macro farming or becouse the mobs cant kill them so they sit in there all day. There should be missions to where you have a goal that is in the story line. like hard base raids.. or ecape missons.. etc. Pve mobs should hit just as hard as players. some mobs should require that at least 10 people are needed to take it down... or even more.
For jump to light speed there should be Flight missions to where 10 fighters have to take on a objective. that would be really nice.. like 20 folks taking on a star destroyer or having to fight to a spacestation then land and go inside to do a mission. make death harsh though becouse if its too weak whats the challange??
Crafting- heres a fun one.. there are tons of things in the game to make but only about quarter of it is useful besides sitting in someones house to look at. there is no consumption of goods really besides some foods/ armor / an a few weps. BE's dont sell alot becouse CH is weak in pvp an pve. they sell BE stuffs for foods an thats about it. Tailors.. once someone buys an outfit they dont buy another normaly. WHY becouse theres no use for normal cloths besides buffing. theres no social parts for it. Architects.. once they sell a house they dont normaly sell alot.. same as harvisters. lights dont burn out like they should.. Artisans.. sell bikes mainly.. an those get repaired or folks do a trick an make them with super high ham's .. seen a few of those in pvp with 40k ham... due to a bug exploit.. so theres not much selling besides uber hard to find stuff. other wise there are tons of venders filled with CRAP that take up SOE data space. stuff is not moving along becouse its to easy to get what ya need then you dont need anything else. stuff doesnt break much. It seems only those that have credits to buy good stuff in the game do well. theres no luck to it at all. if every time had a use more in pvp or pve an was useful they would move more and maybe less would be in storage on venders that cant sell what they have.
Houses- IF more things could be taking out of strage that would free up space in the main frames for houses to hold more decorations. It would be nice if they held triple what they do now becouse of the decroating that goes on.. i built a Aqaurium an that used almost all the space in the guild hall i did it in. So many empty rooms or half finished decorations. this again goes to the mainframe data storage. Make items useful instead of rotting in a vender. maybe items should decay away if not bought soon enough.. an limit how much resources can sit around to where folks need to keep on finding stuff to stay working. instead of stockpiles of stuff laying around that get hoarded away. that would free up space in a hurry. crafters would then build on a order basis. What would have been nice is if the starting npc citys where there own zones that where as huge as the planet map that folks could have lived in.. that would have been sweet. huge running gun fights though a massive town .. snipers.. bombs.. rockets oh my!!!..
I like the ideals of this game but like i have said thoughout this message.. SOE needs to get more into it with content and sacrafice... make it hurt if you mess up. BUT ill say it again.. JEDI have ruined the game becouse of the grinding.. the holo afk macros.. I would be happy if things that needed to be fixed had been done before jedi even came into play in this game.. now theres to much put into them an not enough for the rest of the worlds. please please fix the broken stuff first.. then worry about jedi!!!

Not trying to be rude, but anyone that has played this game for any amount of time know what the problema are.

I agree.. Faction armor should be the best in game for PVP... that an you need to be overt to have it on all the time.. i see many coverts sporting armor that should make them overt.

Do the Dev's read these posts??
what i ment by decay is like the candles an lights.. not all the stuff in a house. just a few items but there are alot of useless venders out there. many hold junk that wont sell. but stuff could break more often to keep items moving off those venders to spur on the sales yes?? a major revamp of the game would be needed to make it purr along.. though i think SOE has put all the good stuff in EQ.. from what i understand it might be a 9 disk game.. 9?? good god thats a big game.. bloated sloppy codes i bet that will be so buggy. If that kind of time had been takin on this game it would have been even better i think.
I was thinkin there needs to be some Covert missions in the game to where you have to wear different outfits and do social missions. that would be different. like having a team in a mission where you cant take in a back pack or weps. you have to go in unarmed and well dressed to spy. even covert pvp would be different.. like where folks have to prevent something but by using there minds and setting up some well planned move of sabotage. (like ooh some guard droid rewiring for a DE to do.. or a dancer luring a npc away from a rival. etc.. there could be tons of stuff like that. ) heck you could have social missions like that for non combat types.. a chef that can mess up a rivals cooking preperations... a BE that has to get a DNA sample with out notice form a target. to me running a high risk covert mission would be a hoot!!
What would also be cool is if theres covert missions in JTL also.. something to where the non combat ships could be used in missions. like to impress some npc or some sort of spy mission.. or salvage missions.. a salvage ship would be cool.. i know i would fly one to tow in fighters for a fee.. or to recover parts to sell. hope the ideas spawn some good things.

I saw a post that had a good question on how will jedi play into the new space war?? i hope that its not like it is now.. there are wayyyy to many jedi in the game. The fact that the game is now geared more toward jedi instead of fixing the problems makes me pray that JTL will save the game. maybe jedi should have there own areas to be in so not to over due it in non jedi areas?? just a thought.

lemme tell you something, it is a PAIN IN THE A$$ to decorate, you go "move object: up" and it goes up an inch, ill tell you im tired of having to lcik ther for half na hour.
Listen though, there are tough parts to this game, i have trouble doing the Jabba Missions, but i mean its hard, i wanna be a jedi, and i think its kool that in this game Jedi are available, Jedi are amazing, and i think its kool to use the force, what i dont like is the fact that inorder to actually make money as anything you have to master, what about the grinders, and ANOTHER THING i have seen 0 jedi on Bria anmd only 2 on Naritus, it isnt like 75% of the pop. is grind jedi, i thinmk that alot of people are content in not mastering the force, sry

also, The Elder Scrolls Three Morrowind was a social game, and it WORKED, the conversation system helped, and you could really P.O. a person by taling them, the only weakness of that game was Combat, i think if you had really decent Char vs NPC social interaction with combat i think you could have a rally good hgame

I only read like the first 3 paragraphs because.. well, its just too freakin long man.
Anyways, some Professions DO have a specialty in PvP. For example, Melee beats Jedi, Jedi beat Ranged, Ranged beat Melee. For the most part thats right. Commandos destroy bases (turrets, at-sts, everything, have BLAST vulnerability.) and BEs help, along with SL (a very useful profession). I think the game is pretty balanced right now, at least better than it was around a year ago. Then it was Commando and CH that dominated PvP. This game will never be perfectly balanced. Settle for less.

I think you make some very good points. I really like you idea for JTL where you will need to get groups of 10-20 players to take down a capitol ship. I was a huge fan of the x-wing and tie fighter games, and i would like to see missions that are set up similair to those. Where you would need like 4 a-wingsand/or x-wings to engage and destroy the enemy tie fighters, and a group of like 4 y-wings and/or b-wings to function as a bomber squadren. NPC missions like this would be awesome, but PVP battles could be epic. Imagine that instead of a faction base, you have an Imperial Star Destroyer. Rebels could get Mon Cal cruisers, and you could have some incredible space battles....

Oh yeah,but that will never happen because the fighters will be covert. I just read on the forums that you can be covert in faction fighters. I mean how can you allow someone to fly in a rebel or imperial ship and not be overt. there are plenty of other starships for players to use if they want to be covert. Faction ships should be overt only. You have to have a risk to get the cool rewards. Its part of what makes it fun. Look at the faction pets on the ground. You can't order around an AT-ST without being recognized as an imperial. The same should be true of starships. This game isn't supposed to be care bears in space(or at least it shouldn't be), this is a galactic civil WAR. Just like in real life you can remain neutral in a war, but you can't drive a tank around and expect the enemy not to shoot at you. The emporer is not going to provide you with a tie fighter just so you can fly around going tra-la-la. A tie fighter is exactly that A FIGHTER!!! Please, don'tallow this. Have the faction starships be overt only and bring some life back into the GCW.
