This may be a bit of a noob question, but then we are mostly newbies in JTL....
When I finished my second neutral Tier 2 box, I got a mission to take out a "Behemoth". I took all the stuff from my Dunelizard and put them into my new Kimogila....and proceeded to get killed over and over again. The baddies kept flying at me and past me, and I could never catch them.
So I put all the stuff back into the Dunelizard and got killed a few more times. In despair I called a time-out for JTL and went and did a Phase 4 quest in the Village. Yesterday, I returned to JTL, replacing the Kimo with a Kihrazz, and buying a faster engine and better shields and armor. I would have installed a better weapon but I was right at the mass limit.
When I resumed the mission, it was easy.....got right on the baddies tails and got 'em. Following missions have gone just as well, and I did another box yesterday.
My question is if the difference was the new ship, or if I was just lucky (or unlucky before), if the baddies' tactics changed during the week, or if perhaps, the game takes mercy on people who die a lot and dummy down the mission after a few failures?

It's the ship...you've got a faster speed loadout now...and are able to handle stuff better. As for the other person who posted in this thread...uh...*shrug*...only way that the thread leader can find stuff out is by posting...don't bash him for it.

Actually...The AI has seemed to have changed again.
Flying the Tier 4 Privateer Ship....Rixhaxz or whatever. I couldn't keep up with any tier 4 ship except the B-Wing. 2 nights ago, I helped a Rebel Guild Member with a mission and had no problems, other then draining my cap. lol
The AI does seem to have altered a bit. They are still faster then I am (usinga 92.2 engine in a slow turning cow of a ship) but no annoying jousting crap.

I sacrifice Flight Computer for better other equipment.
I know using those abilities would make it a little easier...but at the cost of that equipment. I choose not to play that way against PvE.

That's your perogative of course...I just don't quite understand why you would not use the droid specials. Adding 30% to your speed (Engine overload 4) makes quite a difference. Yes, it does decay the armor on your engine a small amount, but the decay you recieve from dying is far greater. Droid interfaces take about 500 mass and about 500 reactor energy. If it's the interface that's putting you over the edge of the mass cap, then I'm impressed by how much mass you're using in your ship.
What ship are you flying that the droid interface would make that big of a difference in being able to fly vs. not being able to fly?
(not a flame...honestly just curious...you're the first person I've seen who chooses not to use the droid specials...and I want to understand why.)

The Rixakxz or whatever that thing is called. I just call it the Rickshaw. Tier 4 Privateer ship.
I loaded it with the 92.2 engine, high regen shields, 3 high damage weapons, 40 regen cap, a 14k reactor, and crappy armor (if they get thru my shields...I'm screwed)
I have a pre-patch ship. I'm right at the mass limit. Give or take a couple points.
I do rather well...but it's definately not the best layout. But it sure packs one helluva punch.
(weapons are 3k, 2.6k, and 2.5k damage)
My only problem is that I drain the cap too quick...but I am perfecting my skills, so I don't waste shots.

You mean droid interface. And you do realize that the droid commands basically makes your other components better but without the mass cost. You could always get a lvl 1 interface, they take about 500 mass andsince most droidcommands doesn't really rely much on speed it isn't very important. As soon as I launch and expect to see some action Irun engine, weapons and reactor overload. Thistakes acouple of minutes sure, but thisway I got a cruising speed of 1140 and I can fire my two guns all day and my capacitor will never go dry. And all this costs me is 500 mass.
Could you really get components that giveyou the same result and don't weigh more?Besides it adds another layer to your flight experience. I like adjusting my shields and generally tweaking my setup.

Ah... this is just my point. You could probably get a lighter capacitor and then install a droid interface, run weapon overload 3 and fire away till the cows come home.
Oh well... to each his own. ![]()

Argonus...I'd encourage you to try out weapon overload 3...it boosts your weapon damage AND helps the capacitor recharge rate. I think you'll be pleased with it. Can't hurt to TRY them...just see if you like the specials...if you don't...just toss the interface to the nearest chassis dealer and you'll get your money back. I fully understand the draining capacitor problem...that's why I run the droid specials. You'll be impressed I think with how big of a difference they make.

Guys, I'm not against the interfaces. I actually use them on my Alt's Y-Wing.
On my main, I just don't have a flight Computer, and too lazy to get one, or have my alt make them (Alt is a DE also)
I will eventually get around to using one...But with the little time I have had over the past couple days, it's low on my priority list. I've made 4,4,3,3 without one...then had a lot of things to do in RL, so I'm not actively flying right now. lol Got all that taken care of, now I can go full force back into getting the last 1.5 million XP to finish Pilot
