ok so firstly I have not lost my ship.

but......................

when in space in first person mode my ship used to be visable (or at least the cockpit used to)

but all of a sudden it's disappeared!! I think I may jsut have typed a command but not having bought the box (just CD key) I don't know how to fix it!

Try Ctrl+Shift+2.

I use shift+ctrl+F2.

It does this to me very rarely when I hyperspace. (It did it all the time to me in Beta but has been reduced to a rare occurance.)

In CTRL+O, under Interface, the last option is "Show Cockpit View". Make sure that hasn't been cleared. (If the CTRL+SHIFT+(F)2 thing toggles that setting, that's handy to know and something I must have overlooked.)

I can confirm that CTRL-SHIFT-F2 is the toggle for the cockpit view
