Im doing the mission where you have to first dock with a decoy shuttle, transporting fake plans. Then destroy a certain number of rebel fighters that you have to find randomly. Then meet with the shuttle again and escort it while the rebels attack.

It tells me that i have to destroy at least 4 waves of fighters before they destroy or capture the shuttle or it finishes its patrol.

The shuttle pilot tells me to fight them and then make a run for it to make it look real.

So I destroyed 4 waves of fighters, then go to make a run for it. The shuttle pilot then tells me to come back because the rebels are getting suspicious. Well so i do. Then i circle the shuttle, while destroying another 2 waves of fighters. Then suddenly i get mission failed and the shuttle jumps out.

Well W T F am i meant to do. It says destroy 4 waves, i destroyed 7. If i stay there, i have to keep destroying fighters, or i cant stay alive. If i leave, i fail the mission. If i keep destroying fighters, they cant destroy the shuttle. Who the hell is ment to capture it?

I'm currently on this mission as well. Last night I destroyed 15 waves of fighters, and the shuttle still called it a failure in that I hadn't destroyed enough rebels. I blasted 60 rebels ships plus at least another 10 random civillian craft that joined in the fray and that wasn't enough to convince the rebels that this shuttle is for real.

The response I kept getting after clearing a wave of fighters was something akin to "Keep it up. Just a few more like that and we'll be set."

Any of you SS pilots that have cleared this mission care to chime in on how you did it? What am I missing? I've got 1m XP and I've looted quite a bit of stuff from continuously repeating this mission, so all is not in vain, but come on...I've single-handedly destroyed 90% of the Alliance fleet!

Which SS mission is this? I've finished the first and gotten to last leg of second and this isn't ringing a bell.

To the second poster that is stuck on SS 2, unless you take a group to go straight to the first wp, do a lot of manuevering to get there. Do your best to keep all red dots that pop up in front of you at or outside the red armor ring in your radar. If you swing around to the opposite side of the wp as you come in by about 2-3k, you will find a large group of npc imperials, use these guys to help you kill. I was able to pull the recon away from the other craft and when the five fighter spawned after docking, I pulled them back to the imperial npc's too. Sadly, the last leg of this mission is a nova cruiser and too many friends attacking an imperial npc squad that does almost nothing to help you... Realllllly hard to find people wanting to sign up for these longazz missions.

To complete this mission...you have to CLEAR 4 waves of fighters. This means that all the fighters have to be dead BEFORE the next wave comes. This is quite difficult at Tier 3 and it took me 5 attempts before I was able to pull it off solo. I recommend getting a friend or 2 to help you out simply because of those pesky A-wings.

Must...kill...faster...

I know...you have to CLEAR 4 waves of fighters...kill ALL the fighters and recieve the message "All fighters have been destroyed" before the next spawn flies in. That's the trick to it.

Aye, this is the third mission.

This is the only one that I passed on the first try.

I can say that there was a few waves (damn A-wings) that I still had one or two ships left when the next spawned.

I was able to get caught back up on the X-wing cycles.

There was definitly more than 4 waves, that's what the shuttle says, but not what your actually required to do.

DO NOT DISABLE THEM, in earlier missions it saves you time to only disable the waves, at this point you have to completely destroy them as fast as is humanly possible.

You DO NOT "make a run for it", the shuttle does.

What happens is once you have killed enough waves and the shuttle reaches it's jump out point the shuttle will "make a run for it" by hyperspacing.

I am of the opinion that it is not a certain number of waves you must kill, but rather a certain number of waves you must kill before the shuttle reaches it's hyperspace point. So it is not so much a function of killing enough fighters, but killing them fast enough.

I feel sorry for those who've had to pass this mission with the new AI, which has slowed down the pace, further expanding this and other similar missions difficulty.

I am currently stuck on tier 3 mission 4, so far I am only able to kill (disable/dock/kill) the first Nova. The second Nova that spawns (exact same ship that I just destroyed, and both are tier 4) remains beyond me.

In any event, I finally got my EQ2 copy last week so I've abandoned SWG untill these tier 3 missions get toned down.

As is they are simply rediculous. All SOE has to do is pull up a list of how many master pilots there are by squadron and see clear as day where thier problems are. If the tier 3's aren't toned down, then I want some kinda "kick a$$" reward for the tough squadron masters.

I completed it with 2 others. Its a matter of killing them before the next wave comes in. It was only 4. Thanks for the help.

Ahhhh....I managed to clear a couple waves before the next one spawned, but around or about the fourth wave, I fell behind. I'd always have one A-wing from the previous wave buzzing around when a new wave spawned. The mission description is rather counter-intuitive: destroy a whole bunch of rebels so they think this shuttle is for real. I destroy around 60 rebels and this is not enough. However, if I can kill them a bit quicker, I'll only have to kill 16.

If only those pesky A-wings weren't so small....that is why I've not finished this yet. Landing continuous fire on them is challenging . /eweapons is great, but doesn't last long enough. Perhaps I'll invest in a flight computer and a "weapons overload" chip...

Thanks for the clarification on what I need to accomplish.

Helped an storm squadie on tempest last night with this mission with my 4/3/3/3 privateer. Was good to get a preview of this mission for if/when I ever complete 3/2/2/2 mission on scylla. Previous posters are right; it's all about killing each wave before the next wave spawns.

Also, on the second docking/delivery, it helps to let the second batch of fighters spawn before docking. This way you won't have to go looking for two more rebel targets to kill.

If you're running solo the best thing to do is disable the reactors, it's a lot faster then trying to kill them. Besides many times when I've done this I get a message they've been destroyed. It's almost like a slow countdown to destruction and they usually all stay very close to each other so its easier to take them out once they're all disabled.

I did the fake list mission and I always disable instead of going for the kill and for me at least I didn't need to destroy a wave before another one came in.

I tried to solo it about 6 times, failing each time until I was able to pull it off. It's a very long and sort of tiring mission but it can be done alone with a bit of luck.
