Thread: Wash rinse and repeat missions
I’m sick of people telling everyone that grouping is the solution to the difficulty problem. When you receive the mission, the captain does not say "go and spam at the starport and group with15 other people". I’m a privateer pilot also, why should I have to group with anybody?? Do you what a privateer is?....But then you say, But its an MMORPG!!, that’s the way its supposed to be! NO! This is not like any MMORPG. Unless you have a lot of pilot friends, or belong to a large guild, you are screwed. The ground game has never been like this. You cant rely on strangers, because who wants to get a large group together, so that only 1 person can complete his mission? Most people at the level needed to help in these missions, don’t need the XP anymore...and there is no money involved. The Real problem is the missions ARE TO LONG, when you’re 1 hour into a mission and make a mistake or go LD for some reason, you just lost that hour of progress. I like how you can be an hour or more into it, and 99% done with a mission, Then in the last minute, 6 teir 4 ships hype in and waste you in 30 sec. Leaving you bug-eyed, still gasping your joystick in utter disbelief as to what just happened. Hmm, I turned away, used e-thrust and boosters, and they still ended up right on top of me?
Also, the mission goals are OFTEN UNDEFINED, and sometimes confusing. Adding to that, the Space map is difficult to navigate, and does nothing useful in combat(the x-wing games had a better map).
Ok, realizing this is a skill based game, they(SOE) need to understand some people wont be able to do as well as others. They also need to understand that some people will have problems grouping,( if that really was what they intended). Why should these people hit a brick wall? Ever have a video game you couldn’t beat? (Maybe not) I have, and it doesn’t take long before its sitting in the cd rack collecting dust. They should provide alternate scenarios. Allow you to fail a mission, or give you a different one. Not hit a brick wall, and repeat it over and over. In the end maybe it would take someone twice as long or more to master pilot, but at least your making progress.
