I'm looking for a site to see all of the freelance variant ships. I just got to tier 4 with an alt and I want to buy a new ship, but there are so many varients and none of the deeds look like the ship they will become. The ships on the SOE site don't have the varients for the Black sun ships and on the JTL area on the Lucas Arts site they don't even have the base Black Sun ships listed. Thanks for any help.

I'm fairly new to the game and have been reading a ton in these forums but I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to.
This past weekend I bought a Y-Wing Chassis that was labeled "Long Probe". Can anyone tell me how this is different from the standard Y-Wing chassis?

It's a 2person ship. One in the cockpit, one in the gun turret.

To clarify:
The Y-wing is a 2 person ship, pilot and gunner. The flight certificate is gained at tier 1.
The Y-wing Long Probe is a single player ship, with both guns under the pilot's control. Cert. gained at tier 2.

Awesome, that's what I was looking to find out!
Is there an easy way to find Ship Chassis plans? I spent a good couple of hours yesterday looking for a Y-Wing chassis and the Long Probe is all I could find.

Depends on what server you are on.
With the new vendor search, I have seen several on the regular Bazaars on Sunrunner. Inexpensive too. Be certain to check the chassis condition though, unscrupulous people will sell chassis that are basically useless, so make sure you check. It's not like trashed armor or weapons that can be used as decorations.
Best bet is get to know a Shipwright, once you work with someone a while you'll get the best deals and eventually you are going to need someone you trust for RE'd parts anyway. Start a relationship now and it can really pay off in the future.
Many SWs will practically give you a Y-Wing.
(This is based my experience on Sunrunner, other servers may very WIDELY)
Regular Y-Wings tend to be on the low end of the scale for them, people tend to drop them as soon as they get the longprobe cert and forget they ever had them once they are into the X-Wing.

I may just be having more trouble then I should be. I used Vendor search but the problem seems to be that when I get there, I find that the vendor usually doesn't have anything, much less what I'm looking for. Is this normal?
I think befreinding a shipwright is going to have to be the way to go. Either that or I need to convince one of my buddies to go shipwright for me
Uh oh! So the Longprobe requires a seperate cert from the standard Y-Wing cert?! Crap, I bought a longprobe thinking I could fly it here when I get my multirole.
Ok, one last question. I went to train with the Rebel Trainer, ran a few missions got trained a couple of times. At one point I could have swore he asked me if I wanted to certify in the Y-Wing, which I assumed meant that if I chose yes, I could fly it. However, I bought the Y-Wing chassis and the starship broker said I wasn't certified. Is this because the chassis I bought was a longprobe?

We're talking about the Vendor search on the bazaar terminal, not the Map. the map is hit or miss, but the vendor search should only give you items that are available at that location.
