i was wonderin if you counld piolt the multyperson ships into a battle on the ground, like in eps, 2, jus wonderin

No, the Devs have said that when you launch your ship from the starport, you get a loading screen, and then you are in space. You won't be seeing people pilot their ships on the ground.

I guess that's to keep the game from crashing horrible over the populated cities?

Well, this is because they aren't supporting atmospheric flight yet, but I think it would be awesome if they were to put it in and could resolve any issues resulting from it (ie. those that don't have JTL being affected by the actions of the piloted ship).
