I have 2 toons on Scylla both of which I am currently training tier 2.
One is privateer with a Dunelizard and am doing ok. Ican handle a few tier 3 npc's at a time with not much trouble.
My other toon is reb and has a Y-wing longprobe. With this ship I get my ass kicked with only a few tier 3's attacking me.
The longprobe is equipped with about the same parts as the Dunelizard.
Is the Longprobe just rubbish or am I or could it be my equipment.
Thants in advance for any comments.

Y-Wings' handling is far inferior to the Dunelizard, so when your components aren't heavy enough to completely fill out a ship, they'll see a significant disadvantage in combat. They get a lot better once you can take full advantage of their mass--twice that of a Dunelizard's. I'd still pick the Lizard over the Longprobe, but I'm a light fighter pilot, and a lot of people do prefer the high-mass ships where their super heavy but super powerful components can be put to use.

I am a Privateer and I fly a Dunelizard. One day my friend and I decided to see who could kill the most TIE's in a hour. He was in a Longprobe and I was in my Dune. We were facing tier 2 and 3. My friend lasted about 10min. and I lasted well over 40min. Part of the reason might have been becuase I might have had better shields or maybe it is becuase I have two guns instead of the Longprobes one (I think). So I would consintrate on flying that DUNE!!!!!!!!!!!

The Duneliz has 85k-ish mass and the handling of a nimble light fighter.
The Longprobe has 150k-ish mass and the handling of a medium to heavy fighter.
If you are dogfighting with cert 5 equipment, the Duneliz will be better. Over the long term, you will be able to put more, heavier equipment into a Longprobe than you can in a Duneliz.
They are different ships. As you try out more ships you will find that you give up mass to get better handling, and give up good handling to get more mass. The Longprobe and Duneliz are just at different points on that (imperfect) scale.
