The question must have come up by now: "How do we link the ground game to the space game?" The more ways they do that, the better off everyone will be. That's a given.

Now, then, how is this accomplished? I have an idea.

Supplying Bases

Firstly, only the people controlling the planet get to have ships jump in to supply their efforts. The other side's goal is to destroy these ships and further their cause.

Each of the bases on any given planet needs to be supplied. The PvE bases less than the PvP bases, of course, since their size is always smaller than the PvP bases and they are of less importance anyway.

So, in space, out on the edge of the system, transport ships jump in. One per jump point, up to a certain number depending on how many bases are on the planet. Those numbers would have to be worked out by the programmers.

There are two kinds of ships: PvE ships and PvP ships. Again, the numbers of these kinds of ships are determined by how many of each kind of base are on the planet in question.

There would be a benefit to making sure the ships reached the planet. Not sure what is plausible yet, but what I would *like* to see is the defending NPCs get stronger or weaker, depending on the ships arriving. That's just for the PvE bases. As for the PvP bases, perhaps the turrets get weaker or stop functioning all together if the ships don't arrive, and/or the timer to overload gets longer/shorter. Something like that. It might also affect how much each base is worth in terms of planetary control. Perhaps the bases stop counting toward the conflict if they are not well supplied. Or something similar. ***The benefits and penalties are one of the things I really want to discuss. My ideas are just that--ideas. I would love to hear yours.***

PvE ships would be smaller, lower priority targets and defended by NPCs. PvE pilots can destroy these.

PvP ships would *not* be defended by NPCs, but would be larger and harder to destroy. More important contents, you see.

Either way, you would need to go to your faction station in the system in question and let them know what you want to do. If you want to destroy the incoming PvE ships, you tell them that so you can get a waypoint. (No point inescorting these; you can't damage the players whowould want to come destroy them.) If you want to escort/destory the incoming PvP ships, you tell them that so you can go Special Forces and get a waypoint. Escorts would be really important for these guys because they wouldn't have anyNPC fighter cover. Either way, you get a waypoint for the ship you're assigned to escort/destory. If there are no ships in the area, you are put on 'standby' and told to hold short for the next ship.

There you go, guys. Pretty good, eh? Let me know if you have any additions/subtractions or recommendations. If you like it, just post here and say so. The Devs will see itthat way.

Rel Arasan of Bria

"So what you’re asking is “can a lightsaber block a magic missile?” The answer is no. A magic missile always hits its target. Period. The Jedi would move to block the missile, the missile would move, the Jedi would move to intercept again, the missile would move again, etc. Eventually the Jedi would tire or make a mistake and that’s when the Magic Missile would hit." -- Red Mage
