Thread: What now??

OK, So I have started off in Bio-Engineer. I have trained up to DNA II already and have my first 10k crafting xp. What do I do now? What is the best discipline to spend that first 10K in?

I am really at a loss because I really do not fully understand exactly what I am supposed to be doing as a BE. I take destroy missions to earn credits because nothing I make sales on the bazaar and I sample DNA on those missions. At this rate, I will be a master DNA sampler in no time. OK, so I can make a beared jax and then sample that dna and get a couple DNA in return and then I have more DNA. What the hell is this all about anyways. What good is all this DNA if there is absolutely nothing that is useful to me or any other player when doing this?

So with my first 10k should I take tissues or should I take cloning? Is there something in either of those disciplines that will sell so I can start earning some credits without having to do another **edit** destroy mission? In the last two weeks, I have probably ran 50-75 destroy missions approximately. Is this my existence in SWG. Run destroy missions, sample DNA, make a bearded jax and sample its DNA just so I have more DNA? Why did I go this route anyways?

I have become a master at fishing. If my bait didn't always get soggy and I loose it 1/2 the time, I would actually have a good stack of fish to speak of. But as it is, I have spent hours next to the river, sampling DNA from the occassional vrelt that ran over to see what I was doing. So, I'm fishing, sampling DNA from a Vrelt and wondering, maybe I just need to get some sleep!

btw...

My safe deposit at the bank now looks like an aquarium. I have something like eight different species of fish in there. Blackfish, Striped Fish, Blow Fish, Ray etc. etc. Maybe I can get a small house and open the Corellia Aquatic Sciences Aquarium. You know, lay all my fish out on the floor for other to come look at. Think there might be a business aspect after all that can earn me some credits.

that's kinda how BE skillups are. Personally I like it a heck of a lot better than what most crafters do: place harvesters, wait and sample, collect stuff and pay maint, combine for hours and hours and hours, attempt to sell your junk and mostly fail, destroy most of it, repeat.

At least this way you get out and see the world, kill a few creatures, get some mission money lol.

But the answer you're looking for is probably Cloning. Bigger creatures give more exp though they take more resources as well. I would have died if I did jax's to master, the DNAing would have killed me.

I've had tells from tailors and one chef about tissue stuff but the main problem is neither them nor I know much about the items and they don't work in factories. They only give 100 xp per (though when combined into something you get another 150 xp so...that's nice). they may honestly be not too bad a skillup route if they would actually be used and you get the UXP. The main problem is you won't have much engr to tweak them to actually be worth using until later unless you go up that tree first and sell the novice tissues or balance between them.

The lack of factory for me does it though. It's unlikly you'll find a tailor that is going to mass produce hand crafted clothes and a lot of their high end stuffhas parts from factory crates so they already go down that path.

In addition most of the tissue stuff requires very specific ingredients like 20 herbivore meat, 20 carnivore meat and 20 flora structural....it gets really annoying to get things that specific.

If you find a combine you can reasonably fill and have a buyer already lined up the tissue/engr lines could make you a good exp rate. The clone line makes for easy grinding solo, however.

I was actually thinking of taking the experimentation route. Skill up in my experimentation points some and then grind out another 10k on bearded jax for either tissue or clone.

But your point is well taken, with clone 2, I could be able to gain the next 10k a little easier. Plus, I get to make a blurgg. That would be cool.

It would be nice to have a better description and a better idea of how this class is supposed to work. A good description of the components I'm making and what they are good for would be a godsend. As it is, I had a stack of fish and made eight of those (can't remeber the name) the perfume stuff that gives a bonus to business acumen. I just wish that everybody else knew what good this stuff is. Maybe it is marketable but nobody knows what the heck it is yet.

And on a final note. The bazaar is really out of whack. Why do the creatures show up under misc item instead of entities? Sholdn't the creatures we create show up under entities creatures instead of misc items with all the other junk people placed on the bazaar? The same with the cloth and supplements, shouldn't those get entered into component or some other place instead of misc item. That is driving me nuts more than anything. There could be people out there looking for this stuff but they aren't finding it, or they don't even know it exists.

TONS of things are under misc, it's really annoying.

Deeds are tehre whereasinstallations areon the main treeand NO ONE will ever sell an installation for 3k (bazaar max) so...what's the point in it being a main catagory?

With our tissue components I doubt the bazaar is the way to go. You need to find a tailor who wants to do it and get with them. Warning: there are a lot fo reports that some (if not all, I don't know) of our tailor combine things don't show up on the finished product. Your tailor probably isn't going to buy terribly much if he can't prove to his customers taht it's doing something. This bug has been reported and theoretically is being worked on with the rest.

The chef ingredients seem to work ok though, not that I know any chefs...my god they have life hard. Their exp item at novice is ---70--- exp. They have to make hundreds of them to get anything and eventually they get bogged down because half their stuff takes milk or some sub-component takes milk....like basically the entire dessert tree.

According to reports I've read though the 70 exp isnt that bad for a trade class. Supposedly it's low on exp but is very resource efficient compared to, say, droid engrs. I don't know that for a fact though since I'm neither of those classes.

As a Corsec Freelancer I have enjoyed the benefits of being truly neutral. I can grind XP by killing just about any type (faction) NPC ship I want. I am now reaching the point (4-4-4-4) in my career where I must decide which capital ship I will take out to become master. My question for any ace who will answer; Is there a better capital to kill if I want to remain as neutral as possible?? If I take out the IMP ship do I forever remain an Imp?? If I take out the Reb ship am I bound tothe Imps forever?? How can I maintain the ability to attack both Imp and Reb NPCs?? Why?? What good is being an ace if you can't help your friends advance. And some of my friends are Imps...

you shouldn't have any problems. you can kill either corvette and it won't bind you to that faction. As a corsec, you'll be able to enter deep space and choose if you want to support the rebellion or empire each time you go there. for your information, i'm a smuggler's alliance ace (rebel friendly) but i can still help my imperial friends destroy rebel ships for their missions.
