when i was hunting imperial gunboats in kessel last night, i noticed that now they take lots of erratic turns, which makes it much harder to sit out if their range and blast them, or find a blind spot. While it might be a good idea to make gunboats a little tougher, i dont think its very realistic that ships of the size would be making such erratic turns.

You want them to be easier than it already is? I dont have much issue with making the turning Radii more realistic, but having them behave predicably for the sake of milking mega xps.... *sigh* nope

no, i said it might be a good idea to make them tougher, but not by making them execute erratic turns, but maybe increase their range or whatnot

Ok,
I recently discovered how to kill gunboats without being completly destroyed by it...
So i went to kessel to get some xp and found several gunboats. Well, stoopid me, i didnt make a WP so im not sure where i was, when the gunboats were aplenty. So, i went back last night to kessel, and i spent 2 hours there only finding 2 gunboats.
My question is... are there spawn points, like in the ground game for gunboats? and where are these spawn points at?

I have decent luck finding them around that blue nebula, but the spawn seems pretty random in numbers and locations for the most part from my observations.

I think you have to sneak up behind them and at about 550m just lay into them. Might be more finess involved, but I've never attempted a solo kill on a tier4-5 gunboat.

the Rebels though seem to fly very level so just coming up from under them and killing the engine
ok... im very supprized to find no one has posted this yet....
a tier 5 gunboat in kessel.... a rebel gunboat to be exact (hehe stoopid rebels).. is very easy to kill.
Once you locate it, dont attack it yet. The trick is, it has a "blind spot". this blind spot is behind and low. so you attack at an angle from below and itll never fire a shot at ya. the LOS for the rear turret is level. what i mean by this is, if you get level with the rear of the ship, itll lay to waste. Very simple once you figure out the angles you need.
Also, just as a pre-caution, fire one shot at max range, if the boat doesnt turn, 90% of the time it wont. If you fire a shot and it does turn, at least you have some distance between it and you already.

Talk about an unfair advantage lol. As a rebel pilot i blow up what i call funboats in kessel all the time, i use a mp ship and get along side it and tell my gunners to give him a broadside, seems to work for me, it just takes practice to keep with the gunboat when they do their flips lol, harder than blowing up the Star Destroyer.

Been a while since I've done this, but it seems to me that coming up from low and behind to a range of 550m and targetting weapon 98 is the way to go.
IIRC weapon 98 is that nasty rear gun. Once that's down, she's wide open from the rear and ripe for the plucking.
Whoever thought he knew something by proposing that the Rebel ships don't flip is on crack and hasn't been at the stick long. Imp ships do the same thing just as often: just sit there and squeal while my little X-wing's wrath embarasses this supposed "navy" of theirs. The thing to do is watch her before you engage her: if she's gonna sit there pretty as a picture for you, obviously that's an easier target. If you've got a dolphin (read: flipper) I recommend either extreme caution or just hunting around more for a more stable target. Yoda knows, those imp pilots can't figure out which finger is for throttle and which is for their nose half the time; if they're not rolling around confused to hell like an idiot, they're just sitting there scared to death of the controls.
And I lick your emperor's nose.
See you back at the station, fly-boy!
(P.S. a guildmate of mine has proposed that every gunboat rear gunner is Force-sensitive...do those guys ever miss?? Sheesh!)

The gunboats in Kessel do flips when attacked. You have to do hit and run tatics to destroy them.

Imperial gunboats do a lot of flipping so the hit and run tactic works best, the Rebels though seem to fly very level so just coming up from under them and killing the engine, just in case they do want to flip, then just staying still and shooting at them works really well.
