Alright, I'm having trouble with JTL (as the thread title says). First of all, I joined the hardest Imp pilot division unbeknownst to me -- Storm Squadron. Anyways, I have been given a mission to take out one of Nym's smuggler ships. I believe it's something along the lines of the Loki Claw? I can't beat this mission though because my TIE/IN just gets pummled by the guns of the LClaw. I've tried about 4 times now and I keep failing. So I figure I'd grind out Equipment 2 and get some better guns, shields, armor, etc. etc. and see if I can try again. Well, I get all the XP needed for Equipment 2, but when I talk to my leader of the SS in Bestine, he just tells me to go back to Nym's and talk to the technician (to re-start the mission). I've tried talking to Lt. Akal in Bestine as well to get training for Equipment 2, but he just tells me that I don't have enough the experience for training? I've even traveled to Naboo to see if I could find an Imperial pilot trainer and he just says that I'm working for another division and can only offer me duties.
How am I supposed to level up when no one will give me training?

me and a friend were easily able to complete it...twice(one for me, one for him)
just target the yt-1300 first and it goes down pretty quick and just round up the other tier 2 ships..
the yt-1300 has both extreme power and ability to shoot from behind so its gonna be hard..
get a friend or two and its pretty easy

The reason you can't train is becuase the pilot system is "gated" - each mission you complete for your pilot trainer will allow you to progress in skills.
A good way of dealing with the YT if you want to do it solo is take out the fighter escort, target the YT and get out of range of it's guns and matchspeed while you let your shields recharge. Then double over in a 180 degree turn, get above or below the YT where it can only fire one gun at you and whittle away the shields. Use boosters to get out of its range and do the matchspeed trick for shield recharges. Rinse and repeat until the shields are down. At this point you can either chose to target the YTs subcoponents and take out the weapons or the reactor according to your fancy.
However, if you want to pass the missions fast you should just find a friend or two to help you. Grouping up in space with other people doesn't double your firepower and effeciency - it grows exponentially with every mate you bring as the enemies will have to split their fire but at the same time have more firepower brought down upon them

Your main "Imp pilot problem" is that you're on the wrong side of the war, pal.
Go rent a movie. In fact, let me spoil it for you:
YOUR TEAM LOSES.
See you at the station when your repairs are done.

But the true question is what did we learn form this. Ok next time you are able to go up in a tier...ie tire 3 in this case. What is the first box that you are going to pick to train in ?????? Thats it when you get the choise, and you allways have the choise, train in equipment first. An 'Eyeball' with lvl 3 and 4 equipment is lots better than a 'Squint' with lvl 1 and 2 equipment.

After tier 3, I'd go ships first - you won't have much level 8 gear anyway, and level 9 certs are at master. Tactics, i.e. bomberstrike, is also something not to be overlooked, as is droid programs - the level 3 droid programs are a godsend.
