Thread: Does ordnance need longer range?

Ordnance, no matter what type, doesn't start to lock on until about 500-600 meters. At this range guns are easier and faster in most cases.

Do you think it'd be better for missles to have longer ranges?

What about specific weapons like space bombs only? IE specific weapons designed for cap ships can be launched from farther away.

Or

What if high powered missles had relatively short range, and smaller lighter missles had much longer range?

The reason I ask is that I notice that the Mark III + missles are all powerful enough to take out players in one hit so why would anyone want to downgrade to a mark 2 or 1 missle when they all have the same range. Mass may be an issue but normally ordnance is mounted on heavy fighters so why not make the lighter missles have extended range to make up for their lack of damage? Just thought it would be an easy way to off more choices for players and keep all the missles viable.

Yeah I would think so. Well their at it why not lower the resource requirement for making them? I dont use them too much cost involved when my blasters will kill just as fast and really with a fast ship good luck getting a lock anyway

i just think they need more power. but i dont have access to MK4 or MK5 stuff yet, so maybe they do get darn powerful.

There is only one mark IV missle (Protons) and nothing is mark V. The Space bomb launchers only go to mk2 but they do a lot more damage per shot.

In pvp the damage is amplified I believe with the wpn overload programs. Believe that is a bug. So the missles are definitely very deadly, in PvE they are a waste as blasters are a lot cheaper to use, fire faster and don't run out of ammo.
