Use the starter ship you get for the squadron to start off.

Use starter until your certed for teir 3components, replace shield 1rst. Look on publicbazaars at the starport, there's good comps for 6kthat get sold sporadiclyon those. Compare, compare, and keep comparing your comps with ones you loot and ones that are for sale. Collect 4 tier 4 looted engines and have that RE'd. Dont use a thin skinnned reactor despite how tempting its lightmass may be.

Its a never ending process, modding your ship until master. When you hit a wall concerning mass and find no other way around it, then you upgrade your chasis. Don't fall into the assumtion thatbigger chasis is most important. Level your component certs first whenever possible.

True.. I got JTL a month ago and all my guildies told me to get Components first. So I'm flying a Basic TIE w/ level 4-7 components in them

good work!

i've always gone for getting components first. much rather have powerful equipment than a better ship but equipped with poor weaponry. like fitting a F1 ferrari with the engine of a robin reliant (the 3 wheeled cars like del boy's in "only fools and horses")
