Thread: On the idea of in-space guild halls...

Being an Imperial RPer, I would LOVE to see these in the form of perhaps a Star Destroyer that you can dock with. There could be a common area where all pilots/troops can hang out like a lounge. Then there can be turbolifts that take you to your instanced respective guild halls.

There could be a combat free space zone that Imperials only can jump into where maybe we could see a part of the Imperial Fleet or even a small representation of it. Then get clearance to land at the SD that would be the one holding the PA halls. It would be awesome to fly amongst the Imperial Fleet even if it was in a combat-free zone.

Of course the Rebels should get something similar too... i just havent put any thought into theirs as I am an IMP.

I am not able to even guess if this is remotely possible in space but i think it would be awesome.

Wow, this one is actually slightly original! Congratulations!

Really, good idea. It's got some originality, but no one clicks on any topic that has "space", "guild", and "hall" in the topic (except me). I really like the idea, but us Rebels are lacking a ship as big as the ISD. Maybe Ackbar's ship, but I don't know.

This idea is original enough for me to work on!

the only ship i can think of that would kind of match the size of a imperial star destroyer is a mon calamari cruiser (from what i remember though each calamari cruiser is different in design. the mon calamari's designed each one as a work of art) and the medical frigate that was used in 'empire' and 'jedi' whilst the calamari cruise might have the firepower to take on a star destroyer, the medical frigate wouldn't be of much use.

although i do remember according to zahn's "heir to the empire" the rebels did manage to capture 5 or 6 star destroyers at the battle of endor, maybe the rebs were able to capture one before then? a kind of lone reb star destroyer hidden from the eyes of the empire. far fetched i know...

I love the idea of a distinct zone where these ships exist. That secures the players' investment and provides a very unique new environment. As has been said, Rebs can have a similar set up, only instead of a few large ships there could be a larger number of smaller ships and players have a few options as to where to locate the guild. Basically, the Empire would all have one huge Star Destroyer for the squadrons (guilds) to launch from, while the Rebels would have a number of small ships that each house two or three squadrons.

The question, though, is what to do with the Freelance pilots. One thing that could be done is allowing certain Freelance factions access to certain space stations or POIs already in-game as locations for these space guild halls. For example, Smuggler's Alliance members will have access to Jabba's Star or that abandonded space station floating in Tat space. Corsec and RSF would have access to similarly interesting POIs in their respective sectors.

Now, are you envisioning this places as instanced locations? I would see it more as a semi-instanced thing. The common rooms are not instanced but your guild specific areas, accessable by an elevator, are.

The rebels could have the mon cal ships as mentioned above. I believe this is the type of shipthat the Falcon and the Tyderium Shuttle launched out of in ROTJ?

As for freelancers... perhaps the floating space stations that are described in Shadows of the Empire the Xizor used as his space fortress? Something like that.

Wasn't this an original pre-release idea? I think this needs to be highly considered.
