Sorry but you're wrong. I've played since August last year but Ihad a four month break in service, only reactivating recently. I got my Yacht today when I activated JTL Good news for all those coming back!

It was SOE that said the 6 motnhs must be continuous and/or uninterrupted.

But your'e right, because I've played since launch, with 2 account cancellations thrown in (for about 5 months away from the game), and am eligible for the 270 day reward it says.

I can't claim it yet because I ordered the game from ebgames.com. Not only is it not here while many people are already upgraded and playing the expansion, but I just checked and it hasn't even been shipped yet

Well that all depends on what your definition of "recently" is. No one ever said that any break in your subscription would keep you from getting the veteran status and qualifying for the reward. So, if you resubscribed 6 months before now you would still qualify even though you took a 4 month break before that. Another way it could work is that if you have 6 consecutive months that you subscribed for with no cancellations at any time then you qualify for veteran status, even if those 6 months weren't right before the JTL release. For example if you played the game for 6 consecutive months, quit for 4 months, and then just now came back a week ago you probably still qualify for veteran status.

The devs never said when you had to have your 6 consecutive months, just that you had to have them. People only assumed that it had to be the last 6 months before the JTL release. And we all know what assuming does.

I resubscribed two weeks ago. That's pretty recently

Did you even read the rest of my post?

I listed other explanations of why you were granted the vet reward as well.

I had an account cancelled for a month - I qualify for the 450 day reward (whatever that is)

I never had 6 consecutive months, and I am in. I think they changed their minds from consecutive time to total time subscribed.
