I remember in a post on the beta boards when people calling the physics in JTLS after that patch "sliding". Well being that i didn't play the last 2 weeks of beta is this still in?
All i have to say is, if it is it makes no sense in Star Wars - period. If you saw that Battlestar Galactica remake on Sci-Fi THAT is what Star Wars space battles would look like if it was like that.... the Death Star scenes would look a LOT different if this were the case. Plus you NEVER see ships circle around anything while shooting at it.
I always thought that they had some kind of technology to stop this - in a Space Strategy game (Master of Orion 2)there is a technology called Inertial Nullifier which makes it so ships that its installed on by story doesn't do that so I say that if you want to think of space games with arcade physics as realistic just say they have that technology... in Star Wars realistic space physics is NOT realistic.
Well, if its not like this anymore i will rejoyce.... I liked the Wing Commander and X-Wing games style, not Jumpgate or I-WAR.

No, it's not. Last week, they took 99% of it out. It's perfect now!! In my x-wing, I fought some TIE's and it was serious dogfighting!!

Yep, the NPC's no longer stop and turret like that. It really is sweet now.

You actually have to dogfight now!
Dogfighting 101:
As the enemy charges you and shoots you from in front, throttle down to the mid to lower part of whatever your ship's "sweet spot" is, then, just as they approach you, begin to whip your ship around, hit the throttle to 100% and, BOOM!! You're on they're tail. Time to unload and just stay on their tail. That's what I did Sunday Night to a Tier 3 TIE Interceptor. Mean suckers.
If he outruns you after you get on his tail, make a mental note to find an engine with a higher top speed (55ish should do) and install it.

/sigh
/mourn the lost sliding.
Yeah, it was different than all previous Star Wars games, but damn sliding could be used for great advantage once you got used to it. I didn't have too much of a problem with NPC missiles until they took out sliding.
