has anyone else had probs not being able to mine diamonds in kessel???

When i was doing the mining ship quest i kept having the prob that my mining lasers would seemingly not work at all, i found out finally that the asteroids have condition, like a lair on the ground. after a certain point they dont drop anymore till you destroy them. at wich time the respawn brand new instantly. Im not sure if this is the problem you are having but if it is the fastest solution i found is to go to another asteriod. you can also /examine them to check the condition if its really low you can wait to destroy it as well.
