Will your armor decay if you dont have it equipped? Say it is in your inventory or stored in your backpack.

If youre not wearing it, it will not take damage from use, however if you die it will still takecloning damage,either 1% or 5% depending on whether or not its insured. I heard that items in your backpack will NOT decay on death, however they may have fixed that. Anyone else have info on decayof items inbackpacks?

They do decay.

Buy a droid with a 10 element storage module and you can store your armor in there. I haven't actually checked, but I'm pretty sure items stored in a droid are safe from damage when you die. I've been doing this in the Corvette if I die and lose my buffs. After I clone I call out my droid and put my armor in there for the rest of my time in the quest zone.

Ok, pretty much all parts decay when they are repaired.



On the armor components, Armor Hitpoints are what take damage when your shields are gone. I dont think a lot of people have noticed this, but everytime you take damage to armor and repair it, the armor hitpoints decay. So you might start a day with 1800 armor hitpoints, by the end of the day it may only be 1000 armor hitpoints.


I dont have a problem with the parts loosingtheir life span, but with armor your actually losing its effectiveness.

Armor points are depleted before hit points when calculating damage.

Hitpoints
Hitpoints are depleted after the shields and armor is gone. This number also decays when
a component is repaired at a rate of 1pt per 10 pts repaired.


What happiens:


You repair part using a kit, both Armor and hitpoints decay 1pt per 10 pts repaired.


problem is this makes the armor worthless very quick. allso happiens with any part with both Armor/hitpoint values but afects the armor peices more. Doesnt effect the shield values.

True. There is no special armor value which denotes effectiveness, like there is for shields, so the 'useful' figure decays with each repair. I'd say this should be changed - perhaps by either making another 'armor' value for armor which doesn't decay or switching the hitpoints and armor values, so the hitpoints decay.

Yesterday i hade my wookiee alt a brand new recon suit, and went krayt hunting with a jedi friend. After killing 2 cl 86 krayts condition had gone from 46k to 37k.


It took us less than 15 minutes to kill them (pixie wore down right as we killed nr 2). So 45 minutes of krayt hunting will totaly decay a good suit of armor.


I hope they ither fix this, or krayts better start dropping ADK's.

Supposedly they are going to increase the max condition of crafted armor across the board. Personally I think they need to redo the whole decay system to a degree and give it a minor revamp. But for now it looks like their just going to stick to doing things the typical SOE way. Quick, dirty and easy.
