Thread: Classifying Equipment

This popped into my head 3 minutes before I went to sleep yesterday. To balance out certain issues between all the different ships, would it be prudent to classify certain equipment as a 'Heavy' (Bomber/Transport) 'Light' (Fighters), and with basic levels established, balance them accordingly? And that one cannot put a piece of 'heavy' equipment onto a fighter...and vica versa?

I like squeezing one single incredibly overpowered peice into a tiny fighter, personally. I like it how it is, allows great customization. I prefer strong weapons then fast engines a close second. I get guns and an engine and then work all other components around them. If I was limited to certain components it would limit my ships.

I'm going to agree it's fine as is. I've personally got a large shield (about 40k mass) shoved into my X-Wing. Would like to be able to keep using it.
