Thread: Pre-order from Amazon
"Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.
We are very sorry for the delay in completing your order.
In looking into the situation, I see that the shipment of your order has been delayed by a system error. Our technical specialists are working hard to correct the problem so that we can ship your order as soon as possible.
To help compensate you for this unexpected change, I have upgraded the method of shipment for this order to 2 Day Domestic Shipping.
There is of course no additional charge for this.
As soon as your order has shipped, we will send you e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of shipment.
I hope you'll understand that we do our best to ensure that all of our customer orders leave our fulfillment centers as close as possible to the availability and shipping estimates listed on our web site.
In addition to our large selection, one of the benefits we'd like to offer our customers is convenience, and I realize that we have not met that standard in this case. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to prove the quality of our service to you in the future.
Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com."
There were some links at the bottom that I could click on if this did or didn't solve my problem and the name of the rep at Amazon was listed there.
I checked my order status, and sure enough, they had changed my shipping method from overnight to 2-day domestic. I'm a little puzzled how this is suppose to be an upgrade over my chosen shipping method. In addition, the game will now ship sometime between October 29 and November 2. This likely means it won't ship until next week. If I had wanted the game then, I would have chosen standard shipping.
At any rate, I don't believe their technical problem story at all. I don't think they had enough copies to keep up with their orders, and I got this story as a cover. I'm guessing they don't want me to think or tell others that they couldn't honor their pre-orders due to lack of product.
I've cancelled my order and I'll see if I can pick up a copy tomorrow after I get class and work out of the way. Like I said, this isn't the first time it has happened to me with games (why I keep giving them another chance, I don't know--stupid me). I'll also never pre-order from them again when it comes to games.
Take this for what it is worth.

Hey, thats great. However, I find it sloppy on the part of amazon that they promote how I can get the game the day it is scheduled for release, and then they don't have enough copies of the game to fulfill my order in the time they advertised. In fact, I got another response from Amazon this morning that essentially admitted as much. I could have ordered from EBGames or Gamespot and got the game today (plus the Flashspeeder, but that really doesn't interest me). However, I went with Amazon because I have ordered countless books, CDs, and movies from them in the past. Those usually show up on time. If I try to order software, I have no such luck. I currently have three open orders at Amazon. When I get home today, I'm going to see if I can find the same products on other websites and see if I can get a better price. If I can, I'm cancelling my orders with Amazon.
For the record, in the email I got this morning, they did change my shipping back to one day and I was offered a gift certificate. However, the estimate is still that I won't get it until the middle of next week, and that is only if they have it in stock. I'm willing to bet I can find a copy by tomorrow.
