Why is it the bombers get absurdly high Mass allowances?

Tie Light Duty Fighter - 20k
Tie Fighter - 30k
Tie/In - 40k
Tie Interceptor - 50k
Tie Bomber - 150k

...Tie Interceptor and Bomber are supposed to both be tier 3 ships? I don't have a tie bomber but am certain that an extra 100k mass should come with a pretty healthy ankle weight.

I looked at the rebel ships and the Y-wing has the same thing. 120k I believe, less but it's a tier 1 ship! Then the B-wing rolls in with 240k?

So how does this balance out? Speed and manueverability doesn't mean much against a flying tank.

Do the bombers have special rules on how to outfit your ships? IE does most of that mass have ot be used on missle ordenance? What is the drawbacks of using bombers exactly. Those mass numbers seem absurd.

The upper level ships have less mass available for crying out loud. The Tie advanced is 70k I believe. But the Tie bomber is 150k?

My beef is that the Interceptor is a 1p/1m with 50k of mass to play with at Level III, while the Rebs get a 3p/2m ship in the X-Wing with 100k of mass to play with.

Not only would this be unbalancing for PvP, but this would ALSO give them an edge in Tier III missions.

I'll take my Interceptor over and X-wing any day. I run circles around em.

What is 3p/2m stuff?

What are the p and m's?

Projectiles and Missles? If so, the xwing gets to mount 3 weapons and 2 missles. (3 under weapon, 2 under ordanance?)

heres the reason for the big mass differences:

this is told to you in the paragraphs about the ships on the swg main page

Tie Interceptor:

- has less mass because it is a lighter ship which makes it pretty much the fastest ship in comparison to anything in the fleet.

- if the interceptor had a ton more mass, you would not see it pulling the ridiculous turns that u can do with it.

- these ships are built to take on fighter pilots and anything carrying small arms, the manuverability makes its beneficial to those who need a faster ship, with the sacrifice of smaller payloads of weapons.

Tie Bomber:

- has a ton more mass because it is meant to carry a larger capacity of ammunition/guns

- the only way you can carry a ton more weapons is by having a huge capacity, the higher level guns are no joke.

- the primary function of a tie bomber is to take out large armiment ship/gunboats/space stations

- the guns and missile capacity that a tie bomber has greatly exceeds that of an interceptor but in turn you get a bit slower to compensate for your tank like abilities.

- if you want a harder ship with a huge payload of weapons at your call, then you sacrifice speed.

Take it or leave it, this basically is the same as anything else in game

the speeders have slowest, faster and the fastest, but in the same comparison, the slower one goes up hills with ease, while it degrades on the faster speeders, same deal.

the reason the rebels dont have equal comparison ships is because , they are not as wholely funded as the empire, most of their fleet ships are captured ships, or ships built with parts they had available, so the fac tthat they dont compare in ability is because they dont have the equal resources to get their ships out.
