Developers:


JTL is an extension of SWG. SWG is required to play JTL.


In regards to Star Wars feel, Community, Economy, as well Galactic Civil War, Jump to Lightspeedcould solve so many of the fundamental problems with the current SWG ground game.


As it stands now (I understand it's beta), JTL does notbuild communityand it does not help the GCW. Many players are going to come back and see if this expansion makes the entire game compelling. They won't hang around if it doesn't nicely integrate and enhancethe overall game.



Please consider the following...?




Interface (Tight Integration, please?):


  • Loading... and transition screens must match the ground game for tightground gameintegration.
  • Please paint a noticeable target box around tabbed targets that are in your Field of View (that are in front of your ship). Four small dots are very hard to see; a box would be more appropriate. We need to be able to clearly see what we just targetted.
  • Incorporate /consider as well as the consider icon onto the enemy names for tigherground game integration.
  • Enemy stats should be colored-bars such as the HAM on the ground (not 100%, 60%, 40%) for tight ground game integration.
  • Basic Pilot / Privateer Profession (Hutt): Allow us to zoom out furtherfrom our Basic Pilot ships so that the Privateer starship doesn't take up so much screen real estate. Rebel and Imperials are able to zoom out much further from their ships (which is very nice!).





BuildCommunity, please?



We are attached to our highly-customizeable and well-known ground characters. Give our ground characters places to explore, live in, andbuild community inspace! A ship shooting another ship is not content.... allowing ourground characters to fly somewhere intheir own starship and do something interestingaboard a space station, Imperial star destroyer, etc. with our friends is content.


  • Space Stations are needed to build community and to offer something very compelling in this expansion (for use with our ground characters).
  • Scenario:

    • Request permission to land.
    • Cut scene played of your landing (view from inside the hanger of your ship landing). Once landed on the space station...

      • Large hanger area where players can walk around similar to Theed starport.
      • JTL Space Mission terminals for making credits located around this hanger's walls.
      • NPCs insidethis space station are used to repair your ship (garage type repair). Remember the movies where Chewie, Rebels, etc. are hard at work inside the space station repairing ships?
      • Modest cantinas for socialization on these space stations.
      • Two Control rooms attached to this space station hanger for believability.
      • Player can choose to fly to planet nearest planet or launch back into space (to run space missions).
      • These space stations should look very similar to the space station in the New User tutorial (as far as textures, sky roof, hanger, etc).

  • Rebels should have Rebel Space Stations to launch their rebel ships (with Rebel mission terminals, Rebel NPCs for declaring faction, etc.). Rebel NPCs on these ships should be higher-end Rebel NPCs.
  • Imperials should have Imperial Space Stations to launch their imperial ships (with Imperial mission terminals, Stormtroopers, Imperial NPCs for declaring faction, etc.). Imperial NPCs on these ships should be higher-end Imperial NPCs.
  • Neutrals should have Neutral Space stations (with regular mission terminals, Regular NPCs, etc).




Music / Sound (Will one the best things from Star Wars be forgotten in JTL?):



  • Does JTL feel like an epic Star Wars movie through the clever use of John Williams music? http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Audio&message.id=144 Don't miss this opportunity! We need flowing Star Wars music tracks based on enemy type, wins/losses, area of space, etc. The JTL install CD is a great opportunity to push a ton of new music tracks into the entire game.
  • Add soundvariation tothe engine noise when we do maneuvers such as rolls, tight spins,etc.!
  • Please allow us to control the engine noise volume for all ships. At the very least, consider lowering the engine noise sound by 20% for the outside of the ship view and by 50% when inside your ship...?
  • Space station "Request to Land" NPCs should clearly speak their dialogue. Don't use that Charlie Brown teacher sound effect for the landing NPCs... they should clearly say their dialogue!



New Planets:



  • Add Hoth and Bespin:These newplanets wouldbring new life into SWG.



PvE AI :


  • Imperial ships should often fly in formation.




Multi-Players Ships:



  • More Multiplayer ships. These ships are great forbuilding community (ie. introduce Imperial Star Destroyers, etc.) http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=243289




Asteroidsin Space:


  • Why are we able to smash into Asteroids without any concern for damage? Asteroids should be very damaging to your ship (addsparks from the collisions).
  • Please add some very large Asteroid belts that require careful navigation to cross.




Autopilot:


  • Autopilot should clearly indicate when it's engaged or disengaged.






Dynamic Missions:


  • Perhaps the landing NPCs at the Rebel, Imperial, or Neutral space stations should occasionally offer a mission? "This just in, Rebels need your help at...."
  • Perhaps occasionally stray messages in space that are actually dynamic missions..."Help me, I'm under attack... The Empire needs your help at..." "Rebels have been spotted at..."





Galactic Civil War


Why is it unreasonable to ask neutral players that are ALREADY USED to not having Rebel & Imperial perks to take a side in space in order to gain access to Rebel & Imperial items?


  • Imperial faction should be required to fly Imperial ships.
  • Rebel faction should be required to fly Rebel Ships.
  • Faction rank should probably be required to higher level faction starships. For example, Rebel Private needed for lowest level Rebel Pilot box and Rebel captain needed to master the Rebel Pilot Profession.
  • Neutrals should not be flying factioned starships.

How do you plan to better integrate and fostermore GCW with JTL? Neutrals flying around inRebel& Imperial starshipsdemeans theGCW for the entire game.


A very poor decision indeed!



JTL must foster GCW as well as build community. Neutrals flying Imperial and Rebel ships does not foster GCW nor does it help the Star Warsy feel of JTL.




In conclusion....


While in space, the game should feel like you're living the StarWars movies in space.JTL should feel like epic adventure through the clever use ofJohn Williamsmusic, space stations to walk-in and live-in for community, dynamic missions, flight formations of enemies, and various otherunexpected happenings.

    Actually, the way it was in JTl, how you would get a ground load screen when on or going onto the ground, and space load screen when going into or travelling in space is much more informative and accurate

    That would be too many HAM bars. 4 HAM bars, plus an Engine and Reactor bar? I think the current % listing is better and more accurate

/disagree this will only add more load screens and more lag. We've already seen the adverse affects in space of too many people in one location.

Keep in mind that this launch isn't acomplete expansion. A lot of the details such as art and sound issues are being left for last, until the main gameplay issues get fixed first. Expect to see many sound additions in upcoming patches and updates for JTL. The devs already noted that they will work on the issue of sound.



New Planets:

    Devs said it: NO. quit simply, this will require them to add many more servers. Yes, many more.Corellia isn't run by one server alone. Although it would be nice to see Hoth, there are too many obstacles in the way of making it happen, like lag, size, and stability issues. Adding another planet will require the same amount of time and work of creating the JTL space Sectors. And Bespin will be a pointless planet, since the only ground area is covered with special mines, and its surface area is tiny. the rest is just gas and atmostphere, where Cloud City is located.


PvE AI :


  • Imperial ships should often fly in formation.
    Again, this is an issue that has been brought up, but isn't that high on the list of important issues the devs are dealing with. Expect it in future patches.


Multi-Players Ships:

    More multiplayer ships will be good, on the small scale though. Perhaps a cargo freighter, or Dash Rendar's ship or something. Definately not a SD though. Come on, think realistically here. One guy owning a SD? Its like having a Krayt or a Goraxfor a pet. I don't think i need to elaborate on that...


Asteroidsin Space:


  • Why are we able to smash into Asteroids without any concern for damage? Asteroids should be very damaging to your ship (addsparks from the collisions).
  • Please add some very large Asteroid belts that require careful navigation to cross.
    This answer parallels to, "Why can we drive into walls with our speeders without getting damage?" or "Why can we drive off 500m tall cliffs with no damage?"

    /agree. Stations are pretty pointless if all you can do there is "Declare" yourself. If you are of the proper faction, you should be able to repair your ship as well, and perhaps take on factionmissions.

I wasn't aware that this was possible. Last i checked, anyone flying an Imp ship was covert or overt member of their faction. The only exception is covert faction players doing Privateer and then declaring themselves in space at an appropriate station in order to engage in space combat against the opposite faction. If there are neutrals flying TIE fighters or X Wings, i can guarantee you that it most certainly is a bug that will be fixed.

JTL is beautiful and it has potential.



If the developers ever give us communities aboard space stations (explore them, cantina in them, space mission terminals, etc.),areas to fly to and capture/control for the Empire or Rebellion, Imperial Star Destroyers to own/explore/destroy (like the GCW bases on the ground), then JTL will be awesome.



Hopefully, one day, the developers will have a revamp to do these things....

I was somewhat surprised at the absence of the classic in-space battle music that permeates through the other star wars games, entitled "Here They Come" on the official soundtrack. It's the music that plays during Episode 4 when the Millenium Falcon is just escaping from the Death Star and is being pursued by 4 TIE fighters. It's present in Xwing, Xwing vs TIE, XWing Alliance at minimum, and i think I've heard it in other lucasarts games as well. It was noticably absent from Beta and since my preordered retail copy hasn't arrived by snail mail yet i don't know if they added it for final. Anybody else miss that music?

There, I changed it to fit post JTL release, and has what SOE DEVS would probably say, but to save money they would only reply two words at a time.
