Thread: I Want These in JTL...

This has probably been discussed b4, but since I ain't seen it yet, I'll say it. JTL is good, but it could be much better. There are too many opinions and my memory is failing in my apathetic age. But I'm gonna list off a few things I would like to see in JTL.

TIE Defenders: There was absolutely no need to invent the TIE Oppressor, which, cool though it is, is not quite proper. The TIE Defender (google it, I dare ya) was a hot little ship whose stats are remarkably similar to the Oppressor. I say we replace all Oppressors with Defenders. Wait, better idea. Leave Oppressors, and give Defenders more mass, but only able to hold 1 ordnance slot, and 3 laser/ion/disruptor slots. Imperials DEFINITELY need a better master starfighter. While some say the Defender was invented later in the saga, it was actually the same time as the B-Wing. Also, you don't gotta invent it-it's already there, and waiting with hotness.

Smuggling Missions: Smugglers must ship a cargo from one contact to the next, surviving multiple ambushes on the way. Pay would vary depending on length of the mission and strength of ambushes. I just think it would be cool, so that smugglers could actually do what smugglers are supposed (or not supposed to) do.

Formations: Travelling in formations normally is freaking impossible! Put in a little thing that works like follow, but puts you in a cool formation!

I'm currently out of ideas here. post some stuff please, I think JTL could be much better. And Devs, plz look at this!

DO NOT google the Tie defender. If you see it, you will want it. Yes, it's that cool, and I'm a rebel.

Copyright? Lucasarts not wanting their own sims to compete that directly withJTL? Or SOE not willing to pay even more licensing fee?

formations: Team speak, /throttle command or match speed and practise. Though I agree the formation system from starlancer would be nice too. Not much group PvP on Eclipse though, so I don't miss it.

Smuggling missions: Not opposed, but would like to see more content for all pilots first before they start making profession linkedcontent.

The devs tried formations in JtL beta. IIRC, it's wasn't pretty. The devs have a reason for no Defenders I think, and the devs were considering the smuggler in space thing (I think) but it was part of the mythical Smuggler revamp. Oh, and about the devs looking at this: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Not only did formations not work, basically they didn't accomplish anything.

People asking for TIE Defenders are my pet peeve when it comes to JtL. If SOE did them the way they should be, they'd be way too freakin' overpowered. If they did them wrong, it would be horrible for them to slap the name "TIE Defender" on a ship.

Doing them "right" would be to give them a TIE Interceptor's maneuverability with the TIE Oppressor's mass and three weapon slots...or maybe even four, since the TIE Defender came with a lighttractor beam, as well as four lasers and two ion cannons, plus a missile slot.

Not only that, but the Imperials are the only ones who have a fighter with three missile tubes. The Rebels have a YKL-37r which has three missile slots, too, but the Imperials have the Decimator, which is basically the same thing. Freelancers have no ships with triple missile slots. None. Which means that Imperials are the only ones with the triple missiles on a fighter. The. Only. Ones. Now you want to have your cake and eat it, too--you want a superpowered triple-weapon ship *and* a superpowered triple-missile ship.

The Imperials also don't need a better master-level fighter. What do the Rebels have for a master fighter? The B-wing. Ever flown one? Sure, they pack massive punch--but unless you spend a lot of time flying them and become very, very skilled at anticipating your targets as well as your ship's slide, they are impossible to dogfight in.

The TIE Defender and the B-wing were *not* made at the same time. The B-wing was produced pre-Hoth; the TIE Defender was developed post-Hoth.
