I have not flown my starter ship for a while and decided to take it out in space today. When I went to launch it I get this message: Your ships current component configuration is currently too heavy for the spaceframe to support. Either swap out some of the heavier components for lighter ones, or remove any unnecessary ones to reduce weight. This is a starter ship and cannot be upgraded. How did it suddenly get too heavy? I tried searching to see if anyone else has this problem but come up empty. Do I report this as a bug? Or is there something obvious I am missing here?

Ah, I did not know that, thanks. I will have to hope for the destroy old one get new one to work, as you cannot manage starter ships. I already tried that and no go.

Yup, the new ones can be managed, so if you can't access that screen, it confirms you have an old starter and just need to scrap it.

Think you nailed it in your first sentence.

If it's an old starter ship, it might not have gotten the upgrade some of them did. Don't remember exactly when it went through, but they did change the starter ships around a bit, so it might just be an old one that is now bugged. If you're still novice pilot, just destroy it and get a new one from your trainer.

Otherwise, your sol on getting a new one, though you might be able to trim some mass off if that's what the issue actually is. Can check that one on your manage screen.

The above works for everyone except Imperials, since their Heavy ship is actually Tier 1 instead of Tier 0.

But yeah, if you have a couple hundred k to drop on a Heavy, that is by far the best recommendation. Those ships have stats that will far outpower most everything up until the Tier 3/4 range, and have more then enough mass to last you that long.
