Thread: Noob in Space! How can I fly faster?

I'm relatively new to space travel and I've been trying to complete the second leg in the Boba Fett quest which asks you to find a mark in space (the Dantooine system) and disable his engine, then escort him someplace.

The problem I'm having is that as soon as I get to the Dantooine system, the space waypoint of the mark comes up (usually something like 7200m away) and I start heading right for him, full throttle, boosting along the way, but, for some reason, I can only get within about 2500m of the waypoint before I get a mission failure message informing me that the mark has gone into hyperspace and disappeared (I assume because I've taken way too much time traversing the 7200m to get to him).

Is this a bug in the quest (I've searched the forums on it and no one seems to be having the same problem)? Or is my engine not powerful enough? I've got a Mark III engine. Is it because I'm a Wookiee and I'm more suited to co-pilot duties?

I'm totally flummoxed. I've tried the mission five separate times and this keeps happening over and over -- too much time, mission failure. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated. Boba Fett is starting to get mad at me...

OK, to fly faster there are two things you can do. first, get a good engine. crafted engines will in most cases be better than loot. second, get a flight computer or astromech droid that has an engine overload on it. maker sure that the engine overload chip and the engine are things you are certifed for.

someone who has actually flown that particularmission will probably have better advice, but have you tried hyperspacing into the system at a different location? It could be that the space station (or other point you are using to enter the system)simply starts you out too far away.

Good luck--I'm sure somebody here will have done this before.

Hey Blade,

Thanks for the (very quick) response. I have tried that and it didn't work (for me). Maybe I'll give it one more shot...

Hope there's someone out there who can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks!

I remember that mission. It's supposed to be like that. It takes a fast ship to stop the target from hypering out.

You need to get a master pilot to go and rocket to them and disable the target ship.

As far as increasing your own speed.... Get a reactor overload and engine overload driod program. It will cause decay on your engines and reactor until you are a master and are able to go into deep space to repair it. But that's how it's done.
