Thread: Veteran Reward Ideas

I really like the idea of veteran rewards like the Sorosuub yacht and think it is a good idea to reward the people that stick around so I came up with a few ideas for veteran rewards. A lot of these are probably too good to be true type things but they are some place to start. I've tried to break them down into 30, 60, 90, 180,and 360 day rewards based on how much people save up.

General:

- An extra lot (since this one would be changing the database probably only available as a 360 day reward)

- A special looking generic house that takes up zero lots (again a database hit so only a 360 day reward)

- A special non-ch pet, perhaps self-designed by species, armor, resists, special attacks, etc on a point system. This would fill the gap

for nice non-ch pets that Bio-Engineers have trouble making. A 30 day reward.

- The ability to make some especially prized weapon, armor piece, etc. indestructable so you never lose it. A 180 day reward.

- Your own personal droideka for a combat pet. A 30 day reward.

- Extra Skill Points. A 30 day reward that gains you 5 skills points extra for each use. This would be 60 skill points over a years time so

might be a bit too much.

- Getting a starting profession you already know free. In other words you get back 77 skill points and get to keep that profession forever.

The drawback being you can never give it up even if you want to. This would have to be limited to a 360 day reward and is still

probably too good, but I can hope.

- A furniture item called a Meditation Shrine that heals all HAM, wounds, states, etc.slowly so you don't have to go to town to find a

doctor and an entertainer. It only works while you are in the house. Perhaps it only works for the owner of the house even. A 30 day

reward.

- Make an existing house work like a container. It and its contents can be picked up, moved, and placed elsewhere. The contents will

be in their proper locations within the house after the move. Drawbacks would be the house has to be in main inventory and, unlike

containers, can not have stuff added or removed from it except when it is place somewhere. This would be a database hit so it would

have to be a 360 day reward, but it would sure make moving easier. To make it work the contents would not be able to count towards

inventory because all houses can have more things in them than a persons inventory allows for.

- Focus crystals that boost each stat for 2 hours every three days like the rewards in some FS missions. One crystal of choice per

turn in. Or even better a crystal that boosts all stats for 2 hours every three days, but probably too good. A 30 day reward.

- An FS slot unlocked. This would enable some unlocks that would not be possible for some people, like a doctor/entertainer getting a

combat one. Perhaps restrict it so you have to be a novice padawan to start choosing this ability. A 90 day reward.

- An Ace Gunner faction pet (0 0 4 0 pilot) to be your gunner in multi-person ships. Could be taken more than once to allow for all

positions on multi-gun ships. The gunner could only come out and play while on the ship though. No ground skills. A 60 day reward.

- Ability to make an existing ship in your datapad invulnerable and non-attacking like the Sorosuub is. A 180 day reward.

- Double your datapad space. A 60 day reward.

- Make an existing house a freebie. It no longer takes up valuable lots as long as it is not moved. No refund if it is moved. A 90 day

reward.

- Make an existing vehicle in your datapad invulnerable and really upset those nightsisters. 30 day reward.

Vehicles:

- Ubrikkian Bantha II Cargo Skiff (from Return of the Jedi) that can be replaced for a small fee if you break it. 60 day reward.

- T-47 Snowspeeder (from Empire Strikes Back) that can be replaced for a small fee if you break it. 60 day reward. (It would be nice

to have Hoth to drive it on for that matter, even if there is nothing there yet in the game time setting) (A rebel reward only if you go

by the movies)

- Sorosuub V-35 Courier - the Lars family vehicle. Again replaceable for a small fee. 60 day reward.

- Ubrikkian Luxury Sail Barge (from Return of the Jedi) that can be replaced for a small fee. 60 day reward.

Ships: (Possibly offer the schematic to make these for the same reward cost for Shipwrights, I would hate to put myself out of business)

- FreiTek E-wing Starfighter that can be replaced for a large fee if you break it.

- Ubrikkian Luxury Space Yacht (Jabba's ship). Since it is supposed to be able to hold 6 Z-95 Headhunters and launch them perhaps

this would make a good ship for a group to use as a base ship if it could be implemented.

- Mandal Motors StarViper that can be replaced for a large fee if you break it for those Black Sun fans.

- Corellian YT-2400 Freighter that can be replaced for a large fee if you break it.

That's all I could think of over a two week period. Any other ideas out there?

I forgot one:

Ships:

- J type 327 Nubian ship (Amidala's ship in the first movie) that you can replace for a large fee if you break it.

I like the idea of adding more veteran rewards, but you really need to add a lot of time onto your rewards. I've been playing for over a year now (Aug 03), and got a free holocron, a painting, and a yacht;all cool, but all camewith a time of at least 90 days in game. On a side note i like the droideka idea, but should bea loot kit that you get parts from killing droideka.

I personally do not see how you can see anyone with less then 180 days a veteran???

I personally think that veterans should be 1 year + in game. That is a true veteran and they must not have had any cancellations. At least not any intentional cancellations.

I myself considered the yacht not a veteran reward but a reward for buying JtL and being in the game 6 months.

As for giving skill points and unlocking skill boxes and a shrine to heal yourself I must absolutely say HELL NO. This would hurt other professions and give an unfair advantage to certain people in the game.

Some good jumping-off points here. I'm in agreement about needing to add time to most items, though. I don't personally think that anyone with less than 180 days should even be considered.
Consider: several of the items suggested (and duly noted as being *long* shots in the dark) are--in the context of SWG--better/more desireable than some 5- or 6-year vet rewards in UO and it's resepective context. Just something to think about there.

And if the StarViper makes its way into the game... for the love of God make it a Privateer Master ship.
I'll take a Skipray as a vet reward, though

I agree on the veteran thing in a way. But MMO's rely on month to month subscriptions to survive not box sales and a huge majority of people that try them do not play them past the first month. If there was a carrot to keep people playing past that first month they are much more likely to stay. The more people that stay the more money there is to further develop the game. So giving them veteran rewards right from 30 days seems like a good idea to me.

Giving them rewards early is good. Giving them rewards like these that early is not. I like some of the ideas, but there are those I dislike too. Being able to make currently possessed ships invincible and noncombat is a REALLY cool idea. Granted, doing this to some ships would be pointless, but doing it to the MP ships would be really cool, because maybe someone who doesn't have the yacht (or just doesn't want to fly one right now) can fly his MP ship for a joyride. If there's nothing this ship can do to hurt other players, I dont see the problem with it.

ALL THESE SHOULD BE CRAFTABLE!

- Ubrikkian Bantha II Cargo Skiff

- T-47Airspeeder

- Sorosuub V-35 Courier .

- Ubrikkian Luxury Sail Barge

THESE SHOULD BE CRAFTABLE TOO!

- FreiTek E-wing Starfighter (REBEL ONLY! should be earned by a quest)

- Ubrikkian Luxury Space Yacht (Jabba's ship).(should be craftable)

- Mandal Motors StarViper <- THIS IS WHAT THE MASTER PILOT SHIP SHOULD BE!!

- Corellian YT-2400 Freighter MUST BE CRAFTABLE!!

MY suggestions:

360 day reward- Nabooian space yacht (in episode 2, but no chrome, only naboo royalty has chrome ships)

60 day reward- R3 schematic (give to a DE to make for you, holds 9 modules)

30 day reward- house thats in the concept art painting.

the sail barge? really? that this is like 3 storys tall and as long as 5 Landspeeders or more. that thing would be a lag fest, and because of the server problems the devs are having with multi-person ground vehicles (this was explained at the fan fest i believe) no one else would be able to ride and you couldnt get up and walk around. plus you wouldnt really have many places to go at the speed it goes so they would need to expand server boundries just for that.
