I played JtL when it first came out, and I liked it. However, there are some HUD issues that are ridiculously easy to fix. At the very least, some new options should be put in.
1) The blue and red boxes...yes these are totally gay. It should be a toggle, and not a toggle within the main options window. It should be an easy-to-do key toggle.
2) Group box around your own ship. When you're in a group, you also have a pink box around your own ship......this is not necessary, and adds even more clutter to a heavily cluttered screen. I know which ship I'm flying, and I know I'm in a group. No visual reinforcement for my own ship is needed.
3) Throttle, boost, and laser meters should be moved to the bottom of the screen. They are in the way everytime I want to look at any ship I'm firing upon. If you don't move them, the least you could do is give us the option of making them more translucent. The bright green/red/blue bold colors of the firing cursor and it's surrounding elements is, first of all, too big...and secondly covers up the beautiful space graphics directly in front of me.
I've never understood the need to have your throttle right in the dead center :/ The ONLY thing that should be in the middle of the screen is the crosshair...that's it.
Anybody else with me on this? I think this is an EASY problem to fix, and it annoys me everytime I launch into space. At the very least, we should have the option to move it.

If i had my way
Of course id just settle for the addition a more robust lead computed optical sight, angle of attack indicator and velocity vector.

I disagree, I like having that information right in front of me, and I don't find that it obstructs my view at all. Makes it very easy to keep an eye on information while keeping the crosshairs on a target - that's the point of a HUD anyhow. I even tried moving the radar up closer, although I never go used to that.
Easiest implementation would be to let you move those, so everyone could be happy.

i always put all indicators and clickable things near the crosshair area, coz its faster and more reliable in battle then to move your mouse and focus to some end of the screen
