No, go for the turret that is guarding the rear first, then you can just sit behind and pound at the engines.

Hi..well after finally grinding out 4,4,4,4 i have finally met my match...the cor-sec gunboat with god knows how many weapons...if any one wants to help me i'd sure appreciate it..or even a bit of advice would be great!

It's an aggressive little bugger, isn't it?


Remember the weak point is below from the rear. Only one gun protecting that.


I usually joust with it, big spirals coming in, capshunt and boost on the way out, let shields recharge and come in again. Secret is to be faster than the gunboat, so it can't catch up, because it *will* turn and follow.


Are you using WO3 and EO3 droid commands?

Good Use EO3 as well, to get out of gun-range quicker. I always go for the engines first, once you disable it you're home free.


Gunboat's range is just slightly less than yours, so once it is disabled, you can creep up on it and blast away with no return fire.

With a gunboat that's on rails, yeah, but this one isn't Mission AI gunboats are pretty nasty, they'll turn on you and you'll be red mist before you can boost out.

I took on my first gunboats this weekend in my X-wing. It was a pair of natural spawn (at least I think it was natural spawn) Tier 3 pirates over either Dantooine or Dathomir, I can't remember which.


I found that fly in and pound, and then boost/shunt out was the only way to deal with it while they were active. I lost a lot of armor on that fight, but it was 2 at once and they wouldn't break from each other, so it hurt. Once the lower tailgun is disabled, it becomes a lot easier. Approach from underneath or the rear if at all possible. Gunboats don't turn too terribly quickly.

I find the gunboats easiest with hit and run - target each gun in turn and strafe it at full speed boosting away once you're past it.


Once all the guns are gone they are incredibly easy

when i go gunboat hunting i use iff scramble as well, target the rear gun hit them hard on first pass, boost,sheild shunt, then iff scramble; move around behind them and hit the same gun again it should take out the rear gun, match speed, and kill

I am also having a tough go of it with the corsec gunboat. I'll wipe out the three assisting firesprayswithout any trouble. Then I'll fall into line right behind the gunboat, target the rear gun and hammer away with guns and missiles. The best I've done so far is to lower the gunboat's shields to 51%. Generally at this point I'm in no shape to do much more shooting and have turned tail to run. I see a couple people have come in nose to nose at full speed - is this a better bet? I'm flying a rhyk with two guns at about 3500 max dam (around .65 dam to both shields and armor), and mk3 proton missiles. Shields and armor are both pretty heavy, but I'm taking a beating. I'm just about at the point of trying to recruit some help, but I'd like to do this one on my own. I'd like to save the help for Kessel.... Any more advice you guys can add would be appreciated.
