Signiture mask.
A new equipment that can be added to your ship to mask your signiture on radars.
It's the poormans cloaking device. Cloaking devices are usually huge and very expensive in the starwars universe. Requiring a capital ship to fit a cheaper one. The smaller one costs 100 times more but can be fitted on any size ship. But with signiture masks, all you're doing is fooling the radar.
Some of you may think this is similar to an IFF scramble, but an IFF only fools mobs into thinking you're a friendly target. A signiture mask would work in pvp too and you would still be an attackable target, but your opponent would have to rely on his view and instinct instead of his radar.
These things should come in varying qualities.
For example. If you have your signiture mask on, your capacitor would be slightly drained whilst it's in use. And if you're stationary you would be completely invisible on radar and the reticle surrounding your ship would dissappear. That doesn't mean your ship isn't targetable, just means it's less noticable. Perfect for ambushes.
As soon as you move your ship, there's a chance you appear on radar. The better quality signiture mask you have, the lesser the chance of popping up on radar.
A ship with a crappy signiture mask would be constantly blinking in and out of radar whilst one with a good mask would be popping in for a second or so every 10 seconds.
Boba Fett's Slave 1 is an example of a ship equipped with a premium quality signiture mask. Which is why his ship didn't pup up on Han's radar whilst he was following him to Bespin.

Great. Stealth in space.
Ok, look. Stealth is an obnoxious ability in any MMORPG and the one that is almost always the most overpowering. I was a damned successful nightshade in DAOC, I know quite well. It has had the effect of making rogues the most common class in WOW.
One of the best things about the classes in SWG right now is that there is no "stealth assassin" class for all the d00ds to play, and believe me, then will. With PVP in space being a 1 or 2 shot affair alot of the time, this ability would be the one used by everyone, at all times, to try to sneak up on each other. Fighting against npcs in Deep Space or Kessel would bepractically stupid, as you'd always be at the mercy of these people.
No. Lets not make the mistake of adding radar stealth to space.

Then what do you call riflemen?
This could be a high mass object, making it so only mp ships could use it. Like give it a million in mass or some such. MP ships are gimped anyways.

Rifleman is nothing like the assassins in most games, which can walk right up to you and hit you for 3x the damage that you could ever crank out, most of which can stun you at the same time, making you just stand there and watch them die.
With most fights being over in 2ish shots in PVP, this is a really bad idea as EVERY fight would boil down to "saw you first, you're dead." There would be no dogfighting.
Further, everyone would have it, so you would spend most of your time in deep space running "silent" trying to find other people doing the same thing, and being afraid to fight any NPCs because the first guy to start up a light show makes himself known.
It would make flying a lot more cheap. It would make it a lot more boring. It would require very little pilot skill to use and would make pilot ability secondary to finding a good spot in Deep Space to sit and lurk until someone else came flying by.
Just say no.

Or a big fleet of red dots on the radar all around him and dud laser fire would be enough to make him scarper.
