If I choose to be a freelancer do I only run special neutral missions or can I align myself with one of the factions?
If i can align with a faction as a freelancer do i fly a faction type ship, or only the freelancer designs?
thanks

From my understanding you can attack factional npcs that you would oppose on the ground. I am a rebel privateer and while I am in space I see npc TIE fighters as yellow, instead of the red aggroed enemies. At least I believe that is how it works. I haven't tried attacking the TIEs yet.

CorSec is Rebel Allied, and RSF is Imperial Allied

You can attack *any* NPC
Privateers, regardless of their 'squadran', can attack ships on EITHER side in PVP ( or could when I participated in PVP in beta ) and can be attacked by either side as well.
Dunno if that's changed or not because I went rebel this time

As a Smugglers Alligence Member yeah, but Imperial ships appear as white dots for RSF, and Rebel ships appear as white dots to CorSec.

My alt is a rebel on the ground and a Corsec pilot. He can declare overt for the rebellion the same as my main rebel pilot can, so pve as a neutral is no problem. I haven't yet tried pve against any starfighters yet though.
On a side note, why'd they make Corellia and Corsec rebel oriented when in the rest of the EU the Corellian Government and Corsec were extreamly friendly towards the Empire?
