Thread: disabled dead roll/ ship crash /more ship damage

iposted this earlier and i thought i'd post it again in some hope that a dev sees it. i'd like to see ships that are disabled be put in adead roll.this seems more realistic then having the ship just stop. also i think it would be coolif when a ship reaches a chasis condition of 0 it would crash on a planet. by making this only happen when a ship condition reaches 0, it will keep the shipsfrom crashing more frequently and not become anoying. lets say your leveling on dath and you happen to see a huge fireball scream through the atmosphere and a loud explosion(maybe if your within 300m of the crash you get knocked down)you run to the spot where it hit and see wreakage of a ship and a player crawl out of the wreakage. it can be easily done they can just spawn prefabed crashed ships on that spot and the player would load on to the planet incapped among the wreakage and then have an animation of player pushing debre off himself/herself or crawling out from under some larger wreakage, and depending on how many players were in the ship there would be diffrent loading areas among the ship wreakage.


i'd also like to see the lights flicker when hit hard enough by enemy fire and when a reactor is damaged beyond a certain point or disabled the primary lights go off all together and backup lights come on.

While that would be insanely cool to crash on planets, I don't think that it will be added to the game.

I like the dead roll and light dimming ideas, though.

Thats completely possible to be added in sometime in the future. Since we already have the barrel roll for our ships, all they would have to do is let the computer automatically atke over the ship after its been disabled and thus we get our spinning to our death simulation. The light flickering would be an interesting addition.

Heh, they even have the crash animation - they can take the probe droid return from the bounty hunters for that easily.

Interesting ideas. I like the barrel roll when you get disabled. Or at least it should continue you on your present course. I fyou were making a maneuver it should continue that roll and trajectory if you get disabled. So, if you were going straight you would just drift straight and no roll.


Also, lights flickering would be neat. Especially in an MP ship since the crew would be in the ship and if the lights flickered it would give them something to worry about.


As for crashing on a planet, that is a cool idea. Not sure about how it would work though. The prefabbed wreckage is interesting, but I would rather it dropped you randomly in areas of the planet and each ship had its own wreckage that is placed for a few minutes if you do crash. If you do that and have certain areas on a planet that you will crash (ie. places that are flat and not buildablefor the graphics to fitwithout major clipping or houses getting in the way). Either that or have a few prefabbed places per planet.
